Very nicely designed pack with many unique and helpful features. It opens up completely so you can fit more stuff inside, organize the contents, and not have to grope around to find things. I have a long torso and it fit really well. If you're carrying a heavy load this pack would be ideal - I mean, you could probably be comfortable carrying bricks in it - but for my purposes the fairly small size of the bag vs. the heavy duty harness is way overkill. Sadly, returning it.

First off, unless you are buying it for a kid do not get the S/M size. These packs run small. Even the L/XL was almost too small for my 5'9"/160LB frame. It's a well designed pack. Although there is not a ton of space inside. It fits comfortably, the strap system is easy, and the system for removing certain parts well done. Overall it is a decent pack, but for the price I cannot quite recommend it.

Such a well designed pack! The 3 zip system is super killer! This pack was just enough to hold water, a couple extra layers, some snacks, a headlamp and a med kit. The ultimate day pack. The 3 zip system makes it so easy to get to the layer that you stuffed in the bottom without tearing everything out of your pack. I was able to get exactly what I needed, when I needed it without dumping all of my stuff.. Organizing this pack is super easy.

This is my 4th Mystery Ranch pack. I’ve been day hiking and backpacking for 30 years so I’ve gone through a lot of packs. Mystery Ranch packs are all well designed and Bomb proof. Although I just purchased this Coulee for me, I previously purchased one for my wife and she loves it. Buying it by size means it fits her torso perfectly (and the fit can still be adjusted) and it has a very supportive frame with a comfortable hip belt. Her shoulders would alway get tired from her last pack (cheap and poorly fitting) so I opted for this one since I knew Mystery Ranch builds very supportive packs. Between the well designed shoulder harness and securing the hip belt, she has no shoulder pain anymore even on our longest day hikes (6 to 8 hours). It can carry plenty of gear and water for long hikes. While my wife likes using a water bladder, I prefer Nalgenes and this pack has two large outside pockets for them. The three zip design makes it easy to get to your gear too. I also like the removable hip belt for shorter hikes when the pack load doesn’t require one. Overall, another great Mystery Ranch pack!

Used it a few times and love it. Different design than most backpacks but very functional. Pockets on the outside are great. Hip belts really hug you and you barely notice its there, lightweight.

I've only used this once, but I really dig it so far. The thing is lighter than you'd expect, and the fit is amazing. The adjustability of the fit is probably my favorite thing here. The 3-zip design is also a plus.
