Mammut's Lithium Speed 20 Backpack is an all-around mountain player, as long as the trail run, multi-pitch climb, or hike is a fast one. Its Contact Vent system pairs a well-ventilated, cushy back panel with padded shoulder straps and waist belt to ensure comfort on the ascent. The Lithium Speed is hydration-compatible so you can keep your reservoir accessible, and it carries your trekking pole when the ascent gets steep or even vertical. There are plenty of pockets, large and small, to organize your valuables, topo information, and lunch intelligently, so you can skip the rummaging and get back to the trail faster.

Forward-pull hip belt adjustment

Forward-pull hip belt adjustment

The forward-pull hip belt adjustment is an important tool for ensuring a comfortable and safe fit for any type of backpack. This adjustment involves pulling the hip belt forward to snugly fit around the hips, creating a secure and comfortable fit. This adjustment is especially important for backpacks designed to be used while hiking or carrying heavy loads, as it helps to distribute the weight of the pack evenly across the wearer’s hips. To ensure the best possible fit, the hip belt should be snug but not too tight and should be adjusted so that it sits comfortably in the hip creases. It is also important to make sure the hip belt is pulled firmly against the back for maximum support. The forward-pull hip belt adjustment is a simple but important step in getting the most out of any backpack.

This backpack is fantastic! It is small and light enough to wear mountain biking, but roomy enough for long, all-day hikes. I love the water bladder storage sleeve and the fact that the backpack has a supportive back so the water bladder doesn't make the pack lose shape. I also love that is has supportive hip belts with pockets! A lot of small packs forget this feature which is truly necessary for comfort and support. There are also just the right amount of pockets! The small zippered pocket at the top is perfect for phones, keys, chap stick, and other small items. There are also zippered pockets on the front, which are great for layers, maps, snacks, and other bigger items. The main part of the pack is only 20L but fits so much! I was surprised by how much food and clothing I was able to fit on a long day hike. This pack is comfortable, light weight, just the right size for a day pack, and has all the right features. 10/10 recommend!

I Demoed this on a mountain bike trip in Moab and it worked out great. Very lightweight and insanely comfortable! Most backpacks I wear while riding slosh around and can be a pain.. Not this guy! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a very lightweight, breathable, and comfortable day pack.

I use it primarily for biking and carrying any necessary items for the day! The space is small but would be enough for a few harnesses, shoes, and anything else that would be needed!

I use this for my day bag in a variety of applications (hiking, trail running, air travel, etc.), and it’s excellent for these purposes. The pack is minimalist (which to me is a positive) with a slightly padded waist belt and shoulder straps and a comfortable but minimal back panel. The pocket arrangement is typical of a small zip-top pack, the side mesh pockets easily hold my 27 oz water bottles, and the single waist belt pocket (yes, there’s only one – a minor gripe) is large enough to be functional and accessible. The pack carries well and holds the load close to my back. All in all, I’m very pleased with this pack and highly recommend it. The Mammut Speed 20 has relegated my Osprey Talon 22 to the closet (and perhaps soon the donation bin). If you want a fully featured whiz-bang pack with a trampoline suspension, extensively padded shoulder straps and waist belt, Nalgene-size side pockets, and the weight that goes along with these features you should look elsewhere. But if a minimalist, lightweight pack which fits comfortably and functions well is what you need, look no further.
