The Flight Better Than Naked Shorts offer a modest step up from naked running itself. The North Face equipped the shorts with a stretch fabric and a slight side split to keep you mobile as you log miles. Their lightweight construction gives you a barely-there feeling while they protect your skin against the suns harmful rays as you spend hours out on the race course or in training.

I actually got these with a gift card after TNF replaced an old hoodie that delaminated and boy am I glad. I've run anywhere from 6-15 miles in them and I like them quite a bit. They're not quite racer short shorts, but for the semi-serious jogger these things are amazing. No chaffing anywhere, they don't ride up, comfy to run in, comfy to workout in. I loved them can't wait to get another pair or two. Not sure about the other negative review about the material but I found both the liner and external material pleasant to wear and resilient.

Original review: What's not to like about this short? The liner is comfortable and provides good support, the outer fabric is light and airy, the zipper pocket is great for securing car keys, and they look good. I've worn various reincarnations of the Better Than Naked short for years and keep coming back. I like the longer length in particular for trail running. Update: I've used this short for years and ordered another pair in June 2019. TNF has changed the fabric to a heavier, almost light softshell fabric; the liner is made of a more coarse fabric; and the liner seams are more pronounced. I returned them and will look for something else in the future. I'm not sure what TNF was thinking with these changes - maybe saving a few pennies while losing customers? Bring back the old ones and I'm a customer once again. Until then, no thanks.

I have three other shorts that I used to rotate pretty regularly. Once I came across these all of my other shorts suddenly found themselves never getting used. The name describes these perfectly, better than naked because they are light enough, stretch in the right places so that you don't even notice they are there. But even BETTER than naked because they have pockets for gels and car key, and protect your nether regions from getting scratched up from branches and such. The liner brief is super comfy and provides good support. Best of all they don't stink. I can get away with not washing these for a week, even when hitting the trail five days straight, so long as I hang them up to air out after. I am an avid trail runner, and will wear these for every run from a 5k to an ultra.
