Unfortunately, the boots arrived smelling like someone had worn them! As well, the boots were just placed in the box with no tissue paper or other indication that they were new/not worn. The tags were on the boots and the sole was not worn. Try as I might, no amount of Lysol sprayed inside removed the smell. Wells in custmomer service at Backcountry was very helpful...I will continue to shop at Backcountry-despite this experience I just can not get past the smell- so am sending back with tags still on. Perhaps, someone else won't mind boots that were worn by someone with smelly feet! And, as others have noted, they do run large...

These are very comfortable and I like these boots very much. They are stylish, very light and comfortable. I did order 1/2 size smaller as the reviews indicated and they fit perfectly.

I wanted to love these, but when I received them, I noticed that the construction leaves a lot to be desired. The tongue of the boot dips down in a sort of "U" shape, well below the top edge of the boot. This results in much less actual waterproof coverage, and it puts the seams smack against the ankle bone, which is not comfortable, even just in test-wearing around the house. The shoe also has unfinished edges along that "U" of the tongue, and it's clear that the quality of the thread isn't great--it was already starting to unravel on a couple of spots, it appeared. The style of stitching that is used also does not look durable, and it's exposed. Exposed stitching constantly in contact with your feet will cause the thread to break a lot faster than if seams on the inside of the boots were all turned inside. When I bought these, I was replacing a 15-year old pair of Merrell boots, and to be honest, even though that pair is old and worn, the difference in the quality of construction was obvious. I will be returning this pair and looking at other brands instead.

I am a great fan of Salomon hiking boots ! I got these for my wife, and she loves them, too. While it's too early for a thorough review, I want to say this instead: I bought myself a similar Salomon pair 5 years ago, and, as these ones, those are comfortable, lightweight, support my ankles, let me hike like I'm walking on clouds, they breathe and are waterproof at the same time, are slip resistant, and have a very durable sole that supports me in rough terrain. They are still holding up after intense usage, what a great product ! I often wear them in bad weather. One more thing that may interest you: my feet stink much less after wearing these shoes, than when wearing, for example, my Adidas running boots. This must be due to the breathing goretex material and an antimicrobial treatment they apply on their boots. I now also bought a different model hiking boot from Salomon for my 9-year old daughter a couple weeks ago, and have gotten only happy feedback from her. The reason I've now equipped my entire family with Salomon hiking boots is my previous excellent experience. I took a picture of my 5-year old boots and the new ones of my wife and daughter all next to each other. Would you believe that I used mine so much ? They still look good ! I recommend these boots to anyone who loves hiking or is just looking for comfortable all-day boots.

Bought these amazing shoes in a 7.5 which is my normal shoe size. They came quickly even with the eco shipping. Everything about them was great, comfort, style, fabrics, etc they were just a half size too big. Unfortunately, they are all sold out in size sevens :( I would recommend ordering a half size down!

I bought these for my wife so she could go hiking with me. She loves them. She said they are the most comfortable hiking shoe she has ever owned. She loves the fact that they support her ankle and they are light weight and waterproof.

I've had other Salomon hiking boots before, and have always been a solid size 9. These size 9s are about a half size large, and my toes are wiggling around. Need to be exchanged. Otherwise really nice boots!

I liked these shoes!! They are appealing and lightweight. Unfortunately, I had to return. These shoes are narrow and I need for them to be a little wider in the toe box due to a bunion. Fast and friendly service!!

I bought these for a recent trip to Alaska! We did a lot of hiking and I was able to wear these immediately without breaking them in. I was concerned they would tear up my feet, cause most new shoes do, but these didn't at all. They were very comfortable. This is also my first pair of ankle boots, and I appreciated the extra support. I also wore these for 3 fishing trips. We didn't have any rain (thank goodness) but with the splashing water and fish guts, the shoes kept my feet dry and warm. I would 100% recommend these to anyone. The price is what you pay for!

I LOVE this hiking boot. It does everything, goes everywhere. It's light and flexible enough to be comfortable all day and no annoying break-in period, but rugged and supportive enough for technical terrain and/or when you're carrying a heavy load. It's incredibly durable too. I used mine no a 270 mile off-trail backpacking trip in the Sierra and not even a stitch was out of place when I was done. I was also surprised how much I loved being in a mid-hiker. I usually go with low profile hiking shoes but the extra ankle support and protection was really nice and I honestly forgot it was even a mid because it was so comfortable. I definitely recommend this as a go-to hiking shoe for day hikes, backpacking, and everything in between!

"I got these boots for and just started breaking them in the last 2 weeks. Not bad! I think my feet need more breaking in than the boots. They have gotten progressively more comfortable. I couldn't believe how light these boots were when I picked them up. The size is perfect and due to the flexible upper toe box, I'm able to accommodate my wide feet without adding extra room in the shoe." -Laura

These boots are some of the greatest pieces of footwear known to humankind. They wear well, are UBERcomfy and fit great. The part that I think people really need to consider though is that the tread and rubber soles are SO grippy. Honestly. They make you feel like a mountaingoat. I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat.

I recently hurt my knee and ankle and was looking for a shoe that offered good ankle support. Actually I thought I would find a pair of Reeboks in their high top aerobics shoes, but it seems like high tops for women aren't as popular anymore. Started searching online for "best" women's hiking boots and Salomons are mentioned frequently. I wore these all day today and the support for the whole foot is just outstanding. I will definitely purchase this shoe again in the future. As far as size, I wear a 9.5 regular. These shoes may be a skosh big, but a size 9 would definitely be too small. They also may feel a little big because I am not use to wearing a hiking boot. If I ordered again, I would stick with 9.5 for my size.

I gave these as a gift and they had this to say " These boots are perfect. I swear by Salomon as they're sturdy and comfortable for all kinds of work and hiking/climbing"

For about 4 years now I’ve dealt with terrible foot pain on virtually every hike. It got to a point where I sometimes have to drive home using the heel of my foot because I can’t put even the smallest amount of pressure on it after a day in the woods. Metatarsalgia, plantar fasciitis, bursitis from compensating my gait. I’ve tried OTC inserts, podiatrists, orthopedics with prescription inserts, hiking poles, you name it with little to no relief. I wore these boots the first time on a 10 mike hike without breaking them in or putting in inserts, and NO PAIN! I’m so amazed and thankful to have found these and I will now always own a pair! So comfortable and truly changed my outdoor experience!

I purchased these for hiking Kilimanjaro, could only break them in by "hiking" around my home location, no hills. I did very little breaking in. Out of 4 woman with 4 different boots, I was only one who did not get blisters. They kept me warm on summit day with one pair of heavy wool socks. I LOVE these boots. Light weight, kept me dry. I can't say enough good things. true to size
