The Patagonia Classic Synchilla is designed for maximum coziness. This layer is comfortable and straightforward. Think of it as your most cozy sweatshirt, the one you want to do everything in. Except it’s only a fleece. This means you can wear it anywhere and everywhere. Along with its comfort, it is very warm. It seals up places where heat would normally escape. You can either wear it as a standalone jacket or use it with another layer. Overall, I would definitely recommend anyone to buy this.

This fleece fits quite nicely. I'm very happy with the fit. I also like how the collar is of the traditional fleece styling, unlike the trend in recent years to cut the collar down shorter. This higher collar provides much better protection in the neck and chin area against cold icy winds. In fact, this traditional higher collar is the primary reason why I chose this fleece over other fleeces. (I was specifically seeking the protection of this kind of collar.) However, where Patagonia missed the mark is the inside of the pockets facing the body, which are mesh rather than fleece. Due to this poor design choice, it would not be a good idea to store keys within these pockets. This use of mesh to form the insides of the pockets seems seems to me a cheap cost-cutting measure which significantly compromises this otherwise fine product. I'm not sure what Patagonia was thinking here, other than that customers (particularly online customers) wouldn't notice. (Sorry Patagonia, I have certainly noticed and now I am spreading the word. Not smart Patagonia.) That said, due to the excellent fit and traditional higher collar, there doesn't seem to be much alternative to this particular fleece these days. For example, just a few years ago Eddie Bauer made a very similar fleece, but nowadays all Eddie Bauer fleeces seem to have gone to the shorter (less protective) collars. I just hope companies get off the bandwagon of redesigning all their fleeces with the shorter collars and return to offering fleeces with this higher, more protective style of collar.

The fleece is great but it runs large. Go a size down.

Great as a gift, fit's well. Not too snug on the arms.

Ordered for my son that usually wears a Large in other similar brand jackets. I went off reviews that this jacket runs large and ordered him a Medium and had to return it for a Large. He likes fleece jackets so he has a similar different band and this jacket is a lot thicker and better made. He loves the pocket on the inside of this jacket (place for his phone while at school).

I bought this as a gift. The sizing runs a little large for Patagonia, it is a more casual baggy fit. After sizing down, my brother loves the jacket.

This thing is off the chart comfortable and warm. It is a 200wt fleece and feels every bit of it and them some. It is not a technical piece but is absolutely perfect for around the house stuff and local errands late fall thru early spring or indoors when it’s really cold out. Runs slightly large but that kinda adds to the coziness of the piece. I think I’d still prefer if it were a little less roomy

My boyfriend is 6'8 / 210lbs and he wears an XL in all of his many Patagonia jackets. This was huge on him and he returned for a L. Go a size down. Nice jacket and fabric though. I like how it's not the fluffy kind of fleece, it's flat.
