I got one of these for my mom for Christmas. She's known for being SUPER picky about her baselayers, but it looks enough like a normal sweater that I figured I'd throw a hail mary and she could use it as a nice top for around town if she didn't like it for skiing. I just met up with her to ski Alta this week, and asked if she'd tested it yet – thinking she'd probably stuck with her old tried-and-true gear and that I'd have to talk her into this newfangled thing. Nope! She liked the one I got her so much that she went out and bought herself another a week after Christmas, and has barely used anything else all season. Totally surprised me – I've never seen her make a baselayer switch that fast! She said she definitely notices a difference with the breathability vs. warmth; it's cosy without being sweaty. She also said she likes that it looks a normal sweater if she wants to wear it out to dinner after the mountain. I feel a little silly for complimenting the looks of a tech piece, but you can tell that Patagonia put a lot of thought into the details and finish on this.

Super warm and lightweight. Cute by itself or I often wear it under a vest! I’m 5’5” and 115 lbs and a small is perfect.

O.M.G. this sweater/baselayer is amazing! I never want to take this off! Not only does this perform amazing but it's insanely comfortable and so light to the touch. I get really sweaty and wet when I ski powder/snow days and this pulled the sweat right off me and stayed incredibly dry with the 3D air construction. You can genuinely feel that difference. I am very impressed! I will never be able to go back to regular base layers again...

Game changer! Beyond soft and really looks like something you could wear to the office and get many compliments on your "sweater." Beyond looking nice, it just feels darn good! This is great for retaining warmth, while still being very warm. Have I mentioned how soft it is?! The fit is slim, but because it is super stretchy, it runs true to size. It fits my long arms, too! Because this was 3D airblasted with merino wool and recycled polyester, there is minimal waste and no seams = no chafe!! I was slightly concerned about the durability, given it is a 3D airblasted knit...but it's held up to a few days skiing and hiking with my pack on, and a couple washes - still looks and performs like new. I highly recommend this versatile base layer!

The Capilene Air Baselayer is by far the best option on the market to date. The polyester/wool combination keeps stink away, feels good against the skin, keeps me SUPER warm when I wear it with a shell, is super breathable, and is ethically made. I use my Cap Air for fishing in cold temperatures, for skiing, for hiking, and to wear around the house when I don't want to bother with the bulk of a sweater. I'm so stoked on the Cap Air that I bought one of these for every member of my family. My mother's review was, "I don't just love it - I think it is the most amazing piece of clothing I have ever worn! It is cozy, blocks the wind and it doesn't stink. It really is amazing." The fit is definitely a Slim Fit to trap heat close to the body, but I feel like it runs true to size.

Review from Keri Schneider: This was not what I expected at all. It’s a very pretty weave that looks way more like a sweater than a base layer. The fit is really good, not too tight and it too loose, and it looks really nice on.
