The Kuhl Men's Mutiny River Short is the type of swimsuit you want on long river trips as well as any watery occasion. Its nylon shell has a 3D texture that lifts the fabric from your skin in order to reduce chafing and quicken dry time, and a DWR coating further helps it to dry quickly. The rear and sides of the short have a bit of spandex to ensure uninhibited mobility. Kuhl also added some soft microfiber at the waist for comfort, flat felt RashGuard inseams to further reduce chafing, and two zippered, mesh-lined side pockets for security. The Mutiny River Short also protects your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays.

This shorts have very good potential, great idea - amphibious shorts with zippered pockets. But there are 2 serious problems with them: - sizes are way off, they are 2 sizes smaller than advertised. I normally wear size 35-36, ordered these in 36 and I cannot put them on and close zipper. Will have to exchange for size 38. - I do not know for whom the pockets entrances were sized, maybe for children's hands, or for small women. Definitely not for size 36 man's hands. I can barely squeeze 3 fingers inside those pockets.

Not sure if this was a problem with my particular pair of shorts or a much broader issue. I regularly wear Kuhl shorts and long pants in a variety of styles and always wear a 36 waist. Some styles might be a little looser or a little tighter but all fit in a size 36. Purchased the Mutiny River shorts in a 36 waist and could barely zip them up. They felt like a size 33 waist and were tight not just at waist but throughout. I double checked to see if there was a packaging error but both the tag and marking inside the pants indicated it was labelled as a 36 waist. Obviously returned the purchase but be wary with sizing if you order. I did like the look and feel of the shorts but obviously they need to fit.

I purchased these river shorts for floating and camping. They have been perfect. They are light, dry fast and comfortable to wear in the boat, hiking and in camp. I wear them as swim shorts at the pool too. The front pockets are bit small, but functional and the size probably helps with the fit. I use the zipper pockets, particularly to keep from losing stuff in the water. They were pretty much the only bottoms I wore on a 3 night - 2 day river float, including driving and a lunch and dinner on the road. It often seems difficult to determine whether shorts are really going to work both in and out of the water from the product description, but these have been great.

I picked these bad boys up at the beginning of summer and have used them hiking, backpacking, biking, and even swimming once. I think that they have a very thoughtful design with a waist that is tighter than the hips so they stay in place but allows you to move without binding up. There is a nice little stretch panel right below the waist in the back and one down the side of each leg to aid in mobility and fit. I like that the seat and thighs are a very durable material. The shorts have 2 front pockets I never use because they are small and my phone and car keys are huge I also never use the velcro pocket on the back. The zip pocket on each side is great and the only pockets I use. They dry quickly and stay clean which is big for me. Literally my only complaint is there is no belt loops. I purchased a 34 I think they fit like a 33s. When I bought them I was 205 at mid summer I was 189 and really wanting some belt loops.

I love that these stretch and are super light weight. I use them for hiking and as swim trunks. Front pockets are shallow but my stuff doesn't fall out, so ...so far so good. The side zip pocket would be better as a cell pocket like on the pants but I just leave it open. Wish they had belt loops for a nylon web belt, but would recommend. Pricey short, but I decided to treat myself. They are really sharp looking.
