The wrong size was sent. I did not order a size small that I can recall, but that is what I was sent. Of course maybe I misunderstood something and did not clarify that I needed a size that is larger then small. I could not try the pants on but the material seems good. It is lightweight and the design of the pants seem to potentially be good for freedom of movement . I don't know for sure. The comfort waist is good so that a belt is not necessary. I know that there are different preferences and different purposes when it comes to pants with belts, but when you are out in the wilds, or doing exercise, or traveling, having to unbuckle and then re-buckle a belt is cumbersome and holds you back.. That being said the pants also have a drawstring which I think is unnecessary. The elastic band sewn into the waist area has a lot of tension on it. In fact I think that I may have to order as much as 2 sizes above size small so that the waist band is not too tight on my waist, and with me it is hard to find the right pants with the right waist design. Rarely do active-wear pants have high waists that fall above the navel. It means that when you bend or kneel the pants will ride down your backside and that is uncomfortable . It is for me. If I am wearing such pants while sitting for a long time riding a bus or train while traveling, it eventually feels very constricting and confining. More active wear pants need to have a greater amount of material sewn into the crotch and the waist area so that the pants do not ride down the back when you move. It saves you embarrassment but also discomfort. (Of course some people want their pants to ride down the back when they bend over, but they have a lot to choose from). Also active wear pants should not have elastic waists with a lot of tension. It can be hard to balance the right amount of support and strength with looseness when it comes to an elastic waist. I am not ultimately sure I would feel comfortable and free trying a larger size of these pants. I might try at a different time. I like the pants but still am not sure they are right for me. The material is relatively light and I am looking for lightweight pants for hot weather, but also the elastic at the waist makes the entire waist rather dense . You have to remember that when you sweat your waist is an area that can especially perspire especially at the lower back. So I would not say that you should NOT try these pants. I would say that they are probably good if you are looking for something that is meant for temperatures approximately in the lower 60s and colder. I had to return the one I received. I will think over whether to try a larger size. These pants are for men. I am female. I have mentioned it in different reviews on the Backcountry site but I find that men's pants are more practically designed than women's pants and still it is hard to find what I need.
