The Filson Twill Original Briefcase invokes images of weather-worn fence posts and leather-clad cowboys loping over barren landscapes, but it also has the street smarts needed to make it today's hard-charging world. Not your typical briefcase, the rugged canvas fabric is treated with an oil finish to foil the attempts of light rain and snow that would otherwise turn your papers into a soggy mess. Two full-wide exterior pockets hold the newspaper or your electronic reading device as you race from the train to your office building.
On the inside, two full-length open pockets leave ample room for a tablet, portfolio, and a few slim books. Separate little slots for business cards and your cell phone give you on-demand access, or the ability to turn it all off and put it away. The bridle leather strap and shoulder pad make slinging this bag over your shoulder simple. Take the strap off, and just carry your case by the bridle leather hand straps if you're worried about wrinkling your suit jacket.

Worth every penny. So happy with this purchase. The materials used, the quality of workmanship and the Filson mission to create a useful item that will truly last through the next generation or 2 (or more) really shows. It's true that even a bag (love the shoulder strap option) or briefcase such as this really does break in and become even better with use. Nice heavy duty zippers with convenient and classy leather pulls, along with compartment separators are just 2 of the many features I love about this Filson briefcase (unisex too).

Gave this as a congratulations gift to my partner and she loves it. She has a 15" Dell laptop that fits with wiggle room. It is bigger than we expected but it grew on her. It is not padded, but that is fine as long as you strategically pack a wireless mouse. She is so excited that she is going to have this bag for at least the next decade.

Love this bag. Big enough to fit most things I need throughout the day without being too bulky and it super good looking.

An excellent bag for the modern gentleman. Perfect for a student needing to carry a laptop and notebook, or casual business use. I've had mine for about a year now and it still looks new, I've seen friend's who have had theirs for 5+ years and they just look better with time and use. The strap is adjustable and removable, depending if you want to put it on your shoulder, or just carry by the handles. The leather is firm but comfortable. Even with a t-shirt it does not irritate my shoulders but rests perfectly. The outer pocket is great for throwing in keys or quick papers when leaving class or a meeting, even holding a waterbottle. The zippers feel smooth yet industrial. They never catch and stay closed but easily open when you need to. The strap attachment move with your stride so they do not hinder your movement. The inside is neat and minimalist. Room for a phone, pens, pencils, notebook in the main compartment. To keep you organized and not cluttered. Then on each side of the main compartment is a soft pocket to separate a laptop, or a separate notebook. 3 sections total. I would not recommend carrying heavy textbooks, or anything more than a laptop, notebook, and papers. It is intended to minimal but sturdy. Other models are meant for bulk. I typically keep a laptop, charger, a few pens, my Filson wallet (that matches), and 2 thin notebooks. The bag is stylish, timeless, and rugged.

In a bombproof bag (with a padded insert of course) is where. I'm going on year 6 with this bag having used it 2x a month to travel from the country to the city for business. It's at home in both places. For a 5' tall male, the size of this bag says you "mean business." No chintzy details here--form follows function with Filson. I don't see one thing on this bag that is superfluous. But, it is lacking a padded area for a laptop so I added a Filson tweed laptop sleeve. I was concerned my 17" macbook would not fit, but it does with the sleeve if not just a bit tight. Zippers are durable brass but large enough not to snag when pulling shut. I wear it across the body as the strap pad does tend to slide off the shoulder...no worry there is plenty of strap to fit across the husky-ish frame. So much room and pockets that I actually lose things sometimes in the bag. Nevertheless, I wanted a bag that would age as well or better than me and this bag is it.

This is the perfect modern suitcase for your laptop and a few other office items. I use this every day for work. The stitching and leather indicate that a lot of care was put into building the bag. I have no doubt that it will last me many years. It only gets better with time. I must admit, I was a bit worried that it was too small for me at first. But after a few weeks the bag started to loosen up and I could fit more in it with greater ease. I've had it for about 4 weeks now and it only seems to be getting better. I went with the dark tan. I was worried it would be too light for my taste, but glad I went this route. The fabric is slightly darker in person than any pictures on the internet let on. If I'd gone with the brown, my first choice, it would have been too dark.

If you're in the market for a computer bag, do yourself a favor and stop looking... You already found the perfect bag! I used to have the larger version of this and sold it to get this one. It was too big for my needs. This, however, is perfect! It's a perfect size for a thin computer and several notepads/books. I actually keep two computers in here at times (my work computer and a school/personal computer). The bag is excellent quality (to be expected from Filson) and will last for years to come. I'm honestly trying hard to think of a negative but can't.

This is an awesome bag. Perfect for throwing in a laptop and other essentials you need for the day. No clutter, extra un-needed pockets/compartments. Very streamlined and clean.

This bag was purchased for my sister who couldn't help herself. She's wanted it for quite awhile now and us little sisters must please our big sisters to keep world peace. Here is some feedback from her. "If your like me you first heard about Filson through your brother who won't stop telling you how cool they we're and how it was a must have. Apparently everyone's doing it. Okay, maybe not, but they should be. My first Filson purchase was the 'padded computer bag' for my 6'3" husband. Which he now considers a man purse because I don't see a day go by without him carrying it. BUT if you're a 5'9" chick and dying to get a good bag to carry to work you need to go with the 'original briefcase'. My personal opinion is that most of the other bags are too big for girls smaller than me to carry, mainly due to why we all like it in the first place... because of the quality and look of the bag. that heavy industrial and heritage style. Researching the bags you might want you can find plenty of photos but nothing like what I have posted. Detailed and everyday shots of what you're really going to see. Everyday full bag shots which includes: Apple iPad Pro, 15 inch Dell Laptop, Apple Pen, business cards, work badge, keys, and Tory Burch iPhone wallet (no show-fits inside pocket). One of my favorite features is the leather strap, which comes with this particular bag, because it's engraved!!! #southernmusthave A Filson store opened up in Dallas and they engrave your bags for free!!! Since I have purchased merchandise from there before, I had the Filson tags on my bag and Backcountry is an authorized retailer, they had no problem with engraving the strap. I strongly recommend the hats and new t-shirts as well! Enjoy!"

I'm 5'3" and this bag fits a little big around my frame. The color is gorgeous, but it doesn't look that great on me because of the size. It's the perfect bag for people who need a lot of space. I was worried about not being able to fit my 13" macbook, but there is plenty of room for it. Do consider looking into the padded filson briefcase if you're wanting some cushion.

I've wanted one of these for what seems like ever and now that I have one I'm not disappointed. Made of a heavy cotton with leather handle, straps and trim, durability doesn't seem to be an issue. Travels well. Two sleeves surrounding the main compartment which is also thoughtfully laid out (read: holds the essentials including a 13" Macbook Air). The Navy looks great!

I continue to be impressed by the quality of Filson's products. Like their other products I've seen, it's very well and thoughtfully constructed of quality materials. I trust it will last me to a long time. On top of that, it looks great and has a great range of pockets. My 15" MacBook Pro doesn't fit in the two side pockets but just about anything small should. Hah, that probably means it's just time to get a MacBook air. I bought mine in Tan.
