I returned this shoe because honestly it just was kind of ugly. The quality seemed fine and the fit felt great but it is an ugly shoe in my opinion.

I use them for just about everything. Super durable and grippy, on my third pair with heavy use over 5 years. Great for hiking, running, the gym, and everyday around town. Minimalist so your feet and ankles can be used as intended. Great feel underfoot and not designed to support only to protect and grip on rocks. Large wide toe box that allow your tows to be free.

Had to exchange due to sizing but that's the joy of online shopping. Wore them around and they're shoes. Climbed a 5.9 in them on coarse conglomerate rock they did fine very stick rubber. Worth it.

I bought these hoping to use them for short approaches and mountain biking with flat pedals. Reading other good reviews made me optimistic about buying lower end shoes, so I went for it, thinking that worst case scenario they would blow out quickly. When these shoes showed up they felt about two sizes too big. Which is remarkable as I own a half dozen other approach shoes in this same size. I'll admit that the Scarpa and 5.10 approach shoes run a little big and I often drop down a half size to climb with them but these Evolv shoes felt like clown shoes... I wouldn't even walk around town in them.

These are pretty much perfect for shorter approaches. The rubber is very sticky and I would feel comfortable sport climbing easier stuff in them. They are quite light even though the look a little bulky. They don't have much padding in the sole so I would say they are not ideal for long hikes (over an hour). Several reviewers commented that that the sizing is small. I don't find that to be the case at all. If you are a climber I would order your size and you will be totally comfortable. Also, the Granite color looks a little darker and way better in person than it does in the photo.

this is my second pair. i bought my first pair a few months ago, and while they break down fast, Evolv simply nailed it in terms of style.

This shoe is super comfortable and easy to put on, which is a big plus in my book. The rubber is really good and I trust them on any terrain. Great shoe!

*Full disclosure, I bought these as cycling shoes for flat pedal commuting. Love them, enough to write a review, since nice flat pedal shoes are hard to find. Stiff enough to ride well and my feet aren't going numb, have both structure and light weight, nice sticky sole, (stickier than my other pair of Five Ten MTB flat pedal shoes), comfy, not too wide, and they look decent as street shoes to boot. Happy to live in them all summer long, and I think they will last even when I beat them up. I've been riding 20m/day with wool socks and temps in the 20s and they are plenty comfy at the end of the day.

Bought these as crag shoes, edge holds well and is comfortable. Looks nice enough to wear around if you really want. Not sure I would trust these as a true hiking shoe but for the price these are a great shoe to wear around the crags and do some technical approaches.

These kicks are super light and very comfortable for cruising around town. They also make excellent shoes for the walk off from multi-pitch rock climbs, and hanging around at the crag. Stylin too! Probably wouldn’t do too great on super long approaches or carrying a heavy pack.

Just enough to get by on big days, and there super packable and light. They take a bit for the canvas to soften up, but after that they're good for daily use, they also climb better than most other approach shoes.

The versatility of these shoes is what makes them so great, they totally look in place running around town and if you happen to go on a last minute excursion you're always prepared with these shoes. I love them get yourself some!

My husband bought these and he says : I bought these as casual shoes for doing stuff around house/yard, around camp and out to bars but could also go for a hike and they are more just casual shoes in my opinion. They don’t feel very supportive in the ankle or the arch at all even though footbed is pretty robust. Went on a mellow 4mile hike in these and probably won’t be repeating this. They do look good in that outdoorsy approach shoe style.

I just recently bought my boyfriend a replacement pair because he put his old pair through hell. He wears them practically everyday and the design is perfect for so many different activities. He's a climber and wears them to and from the gym, out on trails, around town... he even wore them on our first date. He loves the foldable heel. No other approach shoe seems to have that and the sole is so grippy, it out performs even some hiking boots. Light weight, good design, functional, and practical. I was so jealous, I bought myself a pair (but in women's) and I'm in love with mine too. Guys, gals... Do yourself a favor and pick up a pair. You'll love them.

I bought these as a comfy casual/approach shoe that I could wear as an everyday shoe as well as something I could take on easier approaches. So far, I've really only used these as a casual shoe as I bought a pair of the Evolv Cruzer Classics and have used those on easier approaches so far. If these perform anything like the Classics then I will be very happy. Based on initial observations, I think they will be right there with the Classics when it comes to performance, but will be a little comfier. These aren't a shoe for long approaches, but something you can use when hiking to the local crag and want to be able to clip to your harness or pack when climbing and you plan to top out and need to hike down. Love these shoes! I'll update my review when I take them out for the first time on an approach, but so far so good. Give me a call if you want an update in case I don't get around to updating the review in the next few weeks. I bought the size 12 and they fit well, but I'm usually about an 11.5 so I would recommend sizing up a half-size.

I've previously had two pairs of the original Evolv Cruzer, and I'm obviously a fan because I jumped on trying the new Psyche version. Like the original, they are very comfortable, lightweight, keep dirt out, and the sole has great grip. Unlike the original, they have a more substantial heel which doesn't fold down into a slipper, which makes them slightly slower to put on. But it's a decent tradeoff for a bit more support. I like the shoes and will probably be 2-3 pairs deep by the time Evolv releases the next version.

Let me just tell you about my weekend, It started early Friday morning; I moseyed into work at Backcountry around 8:01. It’s a casual work environment but you still want to look good, so the Evolv Cruzer Psyche Approach Shoes were the obvious choice for the day’s footwear. I fielded some emails and discussed my cool new shoes with some coworkers, and before you knew it, it was 12:00 PM. TIME TO GO TO MOAB. I gathered some gear, bought some beer and quicker than you could say “sent it” we were off for a weekend of fun in the sun. We arrived in time for some light bouldering and with these shoes light bouldering was no problem at all, they fit snug, have super grip, and provide the comfort and stability you need for an easy day on the rocks. On Saturday, we went for a 20 mile mountain bike ride- I again used my Evolv Cruzer Psyche Approach Shoes, they are some of the better mountain bike shoes I’ve used, they gripped the pedals extremely well and provided the stiff rigidity you need to stay on the bike. Then we went out to dinner and drank some beers…same shoes, same outcome. Sunday we set out for a short canyoneering trip, and in an effort not to sound like a broken record…They were perfect. Gripped the walls well helped me navigate through some of the more technical parts of the canyon, and provided good support for the repels. These are good looking, comfortable, and highly functional. I’m a big fan! P.S. for a long hike, they're a bit stiff.
