In slightly flared cracks, nothing does the job like an Offset. Because off their ability to protect slightly flared cracks where nothing else seems to work, the DMM HB Brass Offset Set 0-6 has garnered a faithful following in the world of heady trad routes. The color-coded aluminum swage keeps the wires parallel while allowing one wire to slide for more evenly loaded and secure placements.

When you are coming out of a run-out and you finally get a fiddly brassy in .. oof. Good stuff. Love these things. There have been many a time when these guys were the only pro I could make work. Invaluable in the alpine (and turns out, Eldo). Bonus photo with some barely-visible brassies in tow.

I've had my full set of brassies for about 3 months now and have most used them as incremental protection on granite when stuff gets thin. These guys bite more than the aluminum standard size DMM offsets. I lost one last week in Idaho on elephants perch and was heartbroken. Great thing Backcountry provides individual sizes.

Simply put: these are the finest small nut for any area with pin-scarred rock. The security these guys provide in marginal, flaring situations is incredible. Even if you're not an aid hardman pushing the limits on some C3++ X line, you'll appreciate the 3 of the biggest in this set almost anywhere, and the smaller ones are perfect for marginal stuff. Pair these with their bigger brothers, the offset alloys (http://www.backcountry.com/dmm-offset-set-7-11?rr=t) and you're set.

Actually only splitter in the sense that they are awesome...not so good for splitter cracks though. Just like my old HB offsets, these are absolutely key for aid climbing or hard free climbing anywhere I've been. On another note, the H1 on the site seems to be off...referring to the set as 0-5, but the complete set (and what you get) is 0-6.
