Make your back-flags seamless with the Black Diamond Notion SP-an organic cotton pant with just enough stretch for bouldering and sport climbing. On more technical climbs, the elastic cuffs keep pant legs secure around the ankle to hone in on knobby granite footholds and reinforced knees protect your skin from cheese-grater rock on less-than-graceful sequences. Once you've reached the chains and lowered, the comfort on the wall is matched on the ground—the Notion SP will make you feel like you're lounging in sweatpants between burns.

I had a pair of the original Notion pants and my biggest complaint was the waist cinch tie being on the outside. The SP fixed that, which is great. I’ve found these to be super durable against just about everything, from granite to sandstone to the sandpaper walls at the gym (you guys know, haha). My only small issue is that these are a little thicker, and less breathable than some of the other climbing pants I have for warmer days. These are my second favorite jogger-style pants, and well worth the money.

Great pants! Super soft, comfortable, and functional. Waist band fits great, I love all the pockets. I’m 5’5” and I weigh 130. Size small fit near perfect. I wore these 2 days in a row- I rode my bike, climbed, swung, jumped and basically tested these out non stop. Now I feel like a need a second pair. Highly recommend.

Bought for a friend who loved the “Atmosphere” color, the fit, and the look. The fabric is very durable, smooth and soft, not too heavy, not too light. They should last a good while!

I'm ultimately returning these pants in favor of another I liked more, but I still think they're really nice. They seem to be very well made, with a sturdy material and reinforced knees with an extra seam for mobility. The waistband is super comfy (actually, the pants as a whole are super comfy, which surprised me given the material when I took them out of the bag), and I appreciate the hidden drawstring inside the band—one that's not ridiculously stretchy, so it *does* actually serve to tighten the waist, unlike others I've tried. Being high waisted, I also like that the rise is somewhere between a mid and a high rise so that I'm not giving myself weird wedgies trying to get them to a comfortable spot on my waist. The tapered leg, deep front pockets, ankle cuffs, and pretty blue color are also great. I can actually envision these pants transitioning easily from trail to city, or even wearing them to work. The reasons I chose not to keep them are that 1. the material is heavier than I expected and I'm mainly looking for a warm weather/summer hiking pant and 2. the squarish cut of the front pockets isn't super flattering on my tummy. So at the end of the day, there are better pants out there for me for the price point.

These are the best climbing pants I've ever tried. The cotton feels great and durable, stretch is perfect, rise is on point, and fit is amazing. I was shocked that these pants fit so well out of the package, no hemming needed! Since they're thicker, they aren't ideal in warmer weather...I'm still on the hunt for my perfect summer climbing pants.

I purchase the pants for a trip to Nepal and I must say, they have become my all-time favorite. The fit is great, not too loose, not too high or low waited, they are just right in every aspect. The fabric is soft and they are the perfect weight for a full day of hiking.

Thank you Black Diamond, for making a climbing pant that I don't swim in. I am so happy with these pants and I 100% plan on using them for more than just climbing! The material is abrasion resistant and moves with your body, while the fit is sleek and figure flattering. The ankle cuffs are just the right tightness and I can slide them up for a more crop pant if its too warm. The waist is perfect - its mid rise with room so you're not getting squished in your softer areas. I can wear a crop top with these pants without feeling super exposed and more importantly the waist stays in place, so I'm not constantly pulling my pants back up or adjusting the drawstring throughout the day. These pants fit great under a harness and I don't notice any discomfort during extended periods of sitting in one with these pants on. I want another pair!

These are my go-to climbing, camping, hiking, or anything outdoor pants. They are breathable and stretchy, good for climbing inside or outdoors. If it's colder out I'll layer long underwear underneath them for the morning. I wore through my old notion pants after a solid year of scraping them against rock. I like this SP version a little better as the drawstring is on the inside, so it's more comfortable with a harness. The pockets are also a better design and things do not fall out like they did in the original notion pant. Super comfy and awesome quality!!
