Mount Superior is one of the most iconic backcountry skiing mountains in the western United States, and it's also a short 30 minute drive from Backcountry's office. Given that proximity, it's no surprise that many of us spend mornings on Superior's south face before clocking in, and those quick dawn missions are made possible with light gear like the GlideLite Skin. We made this skin with Black Diamond to assure reliable traction, lightness, and packability.

A blend of nylon and mohair easily glides on the snow for optimized efficiency with each stride and also offers a trustworthy grip on steep sections. To make trimming easy, these skins come in pre-cut lengths and a standard 125 millimeter width. Black Diamond's new Snap Fit Tip is also included, easily clamping to the skins without the need for tools, and its STS tail provides up to 10 centimeters of adjustability to securely fit your ski.

Exactly what I want when I am skinning. Strong and reliable. I put this on my split board because I already had the tail clips. I love that I can set this up to fit my specs so I can fit it how I like.

Not much else to say other than outlined in specs - these are the Backcountry branded version of a pretty legendary BD mohair blend skin. Very happy with the price point ( I do see the BD's are now cheaper as of this writing) and quality. I notice the toe fitting has a plastic bar where older ascensions had a metal bar... not sure if this will ever come to any consequence or just saves a couple of grams.

Purchased these and noticed several little features were a step below BD skins from previous years, The pre-drilled holes in tip were incomplete on one side causing several of the screws to strip. Screws also softer than older models-I managed to get the stripped screw out and correct mis-drilling by partially screwing in the wrong direction a few turns and used old screws from older black diamond skins. Also the trimmerr seemed to dull by the time I finished one skin--I was fine using the cutter I had saved from last pair. They llook the same but the blade on older one that already trimmed a complete set is much sharper than the new one that trimmed on skin. Maybe the Backcountry version is a little lower quality than black diamond or maybe black diamond quality has dropped off in the last year--or maybe I just was unlucky

Got to use this skins as a rental for a day, and they did not disappoint! Made for a smooth glide up the mountain while still having plenty of grab! Tip attachments made for fast on and off and they bundled up easily to slide into my pockets. Good, solid, product.

These skins are great for the grip and glide that you get, but the glue is cheaper than regular skin glue. It glops up really badly after a few uses, and I had to renew it after only 10 days of use. I would go with the glidelites, or ascensions, but these ones do not have the same glue that the pure BD skins have, and it makes every transition a hassle.
