We've been waiting all summer for this moment—opening day on our favorite mountain. And it's all the better that the skies are dumping snow faster than we can shred it, because we're well-armored against weather in the Girdwood Gore-Tex Insulated Jacket. Built with the reliable waterproof protection of Gore-Tex, this full-featured piece keeps even wet, heavy snow out, and we've quilted the interior with low-bulk insulation. Special ventilation at the front helps us balance things out if we're too toasty, though. Two center zips let us seal out stormy weather, or we can leave the ventilation visible to help cool us off on the cat track.

I’ve been looking for a replacement jacket for a while now, and finally found it! I tried out the Cottonwoods shell last year and ultimately the fit wasn’t quite right (in between a L and XL) and wasn’t convinced a shell was right for me. I’m 6’1”, 230 lbs, trying to maintain an athletic frame, and the XL fits perfect. The Goretex material is also more flexible/less rigid compared to the Cottonwoods jacket, which was a big plus for me. Plenty of pockets in this jacket, feels very durable and warm. Wind doesn’t stand a chance, and the double zipper in front for ventilation is also a great feature when you do want a bit of it to cool down. Love the style and color scheme. Would highly recommend!

Its actually mid-Summer where I am and it just arrived today (good shipping service...8 days to New Zealand), so I haven't used it yet & won't for 7 months. Initial impression from trying it on, is that it is exactly what I wanted. An insulated, technical jacket with all the bells and whistles (except maybe a goggle cleaning cloth on a cord, inside one of the many, many pockets). Only concern is that even the XXL is a closer/more athletic cut that I was expecting. I sized up because I normally wear a camelbak under my jacket. The jacket is a great fit for my XL frame. But not enough room for a Camelbak underneath. I guess I'm about to buy a new Camelbak! Plus...damn...wish I'd remembered about Black Friday in the USA. brought it 8 days early and paid too much :(
