We don’t shy away from the storm—we seek it out in confidence in our Cottonwoods Jacket. Inspired by the 500+ inches a year of snow we usually get in the Cottonwoods Canyons—Salt Lake City’s Backyard—this hardshell is made from highly durable 3-layer GORE-TEX material that can handle our biggest lines, all while keeping us warm and dry. This robust outer layer isn’t as lightweight or stretchy as our Rustler Jacket, but the protection it offers for plowing through snowy mountains in the Pacific Northwest or on powder hunts is unparalleled. The segmented sleeve design gives us the freedom we need for pole-planting and tightening up our bindings. And we built in a bevy of thoughtful features inspired by our Gearheads to keep us dry and charging all winter long.

Wore this jacket stuffed with: -beanie -neck gaiter -phone -hand sanitizer -chapstick -headphones -eye drops -Honey Stingers caffeinated energy gummies ? After stuffing all of that in the huge pockets I only had one issue and that was when bending over snacks would fall out of the inner pocket that you might put your skins in. That being said I could definitely stash my snacks in other places and put something like my beanie in that pocket. Many reviews state to size up and I almost think I would have been better off with a smaller size, but with a puffy it works fine.

This jacket his huge on top in the M size and still manages to tightly grab around the hip area which limits mobility in skiing and also just looks bad. Try again please.

I really really wanted to love this jacket! Great color, lots of pockets in the right places, and I caught it on sale for a great price. I think it would have performed well, but the fit just didn't work for me. I sized up after reading the other reviews about the hip area running small. It ended up being way too big everywhere else, kind of boxy, with really long arms - and I'm 5'10"! But I don't think I could have sized down in the hip area. Very nice looking jacket though if you have narrow hips and stick with your regular size!

Have you ever fallen in love with a color? I find myself purchasing more and more items in a shade similar to the Granite Green color and I guess you could say I'm happy with it. I like to think of it as a modern seafoam. In addition to loving the color, I really, REALLY love the function of this jacket. The 3L aspect keeps me nice and dry in the stormiest of weather, which makes me a happy shredder. And the abundance of pockets makes storing snacks, keys, kleenex and my phone a breeze. No two pockets have to have different items together inside them, which makes me have a bit more security that I won't dump anything accidentally when I get on the lift. The only weird thing for me is the wrist gaitors since the sleeves are a tad too long, they don't seem to fit my oddly short arms properly.

I love the color and all the pockets BUT unfortunately after my bottom layers the jacket ends up a little snug! :(

I love the granite green in this jacket and thought it had all the pockets and winter protection I was looking for. The fabric is kind of stiff but it is the fit I can’t get over. I’m petite and the arms are long and there is lots of extra room in the shoulders for me. That is especially awkward because of the stiff fabric as is the super high collar. It’s too high and the collar doesnt lay down well either when it’s not zipped. It needs to be an inch lower or more. I didn’t have the hip problem others referred to but the rest made it a nonstarter for me. Thanks Backcountry for getting some beautiful colors, athletic but feminine (most gear companies get it all wrong) but please work on the fit.

This jacket is great. I got the Huckleberry color and it is so cute. I normally wear a size M and that is what I got in this, it's a little snug around my hips, but not uncomfortable. I would recommend sizing up if you have wider set hips.

I reallyyy wanted this jacket to work! Loved the color and the cut but just a little too snug in the hips for me.

This jacket kept me dry on a three day backpacking trip last January. Good ventilation, and the hood is large enough to fit over hats/helmets. Love the color, too! Does run slightly small.

I've never worn anything but an XS in my life, but ended up going a full size up to an S when I tested this jacket. The fit still felt pretty snug. I was a fan of the slim fit, but if you're curvier, this may be a bit of an awkward set up. As far as the jacket quality - I took this for a spin in a solid storm, and was a big fan of the waterproofing. The material is definitely stiff, but it was reassuringly heavy-duty, and I really didn't notice it once I was skiing. I was also **STOKED** on the media pocket on this. My phone is a old fragile thing that freezes the second it gets kinda cold, and this jacket somehow kept it magically warm almost all day? It was seriously witchcraft. My only major complaints were that the water resistant zippers, while they work well for holding out water, were kind of clumsy to deal with with gloves on. I ended up opening up the pit vents a couple times, and honestly decided that I really prefer the old-school non-waterproof zippers with a flap over them, rather than built in waterproofing. Totally personal preference though! The other thing was that this jacket is supposed to snap in with the bibs, but I'm so short that once I sized up to the S, the snaps on the jacket were like a mile below the snaps on the bibs. Didn't really affect the performance - the jacket and bibs were still solid at keeping snow out, but something that's worth knowing. Overall, I really liked this jacket, but I generally recommend sizing up, and be aware that it might be quite a bit slimmer than what you might be used to.

I REALLY wanted to love this jacket, the color is amazing, it has everything you need, but it was so stiff and uncomfortable. I have a pretty average body, 5'7, athletic, not small not big, but if my hips had been any wider the jacket wouldn't have zipped at all. Keep workin on this backcountry, I have faith!

I really love this jacket but the fit is a little weird. Like other reviews said, the arms are super long, it's pretty tight around the hips and a shorter torso than I'd like. It has a great performance though! I am thinking about sizing up to a medium?

Beautiful colors, great features, everything one would want in a ski jacket. But the front collar comes up almost over my nose, and the fabric is not very flexible, I tried on with various layers but just couldn't make it work when fully zipped up. Otherwise everything one would want in a ski jacket.

Initial thoughts after trying on: the material is very stiff. I hope as it gets worn more it will wear down a little and become more malleable. The sleeves are also too long...the thumb holes are well past my hands, so that might turn out to be a little annoying. Otherwise, I really like the color and I enjoy the slim fit.

I really, really wanted to love this jacket, and I even made my self wear it a few times just to be sure I wasn't making a decision too quickly but at the end of the day the fit is too poor to be worth the money and sacrifice of efficiency and comfort especially in the back country. The hips are too tight and chest and shoulder area has way too much fabric making it bulky and difficult to maneuver. The arms are too long also. Such a bummer to return it because otherwise it's great! I have a curvy, athletic build and this doesn't seem to be compatible with that body make up.

I really wanted to love this jacket as the color is awesome (silver pine) and the material was thick and burly, but the fit was just awful for me. I have wide shoulders and hips, 29" waist, and ordered my normal Medium size in jackets. It was incredibly tight around my hips, and the sleeves were WAYY too long (I'm talking 3-4 inches) which made the thumbholes impossible to use. After 5 or so days on mountain, the zipper split at the bottom while on the gondola and I was able to work with warranty to return it.

Picked these up for my lady and this is what she had to say. “High quality material at a reasonable price. The powder skirt on the arms is super handy. It fits true to size and is a quintessential shell.”

Gorgeous color ,excellent amount and placement of pocket s. Had to size up. I am 5"4 140 lbs and a medium would barley zip over my hips with jeans on. Neck comes up pretty high over chin and fits well with a helmet. Kinda stiff but seems to be softening as I work with it. Will update once we get snow!

Amazing Jacket for an amazing price. Overall this jacket has really held up well, got one for my girlfriend and she loves it. Paired with a good insulated jacket it can hold up in the coldest of temperature and still maintain good breathability for the warmer days.
