Winter can seem endless when you're dealing with below freezing temperatures for days on end and the skies have been grey for what feels like months. Well, the Arc'teryx Patera Down Parka is here to make the coldest months of the year more tolerable with a clean, elegant look and full-featured design that will combat bone-chilling temperatures.

With what it calls a Down Contour Construction and Down Composite Mapping, Arc'teryx placed high-loft goose down throughout the body and arms of the jacket for supreme warmth and comfort on the coldest days. Then, it placed crimped, siliconized Coreloft synthetic in areas prone to moisture so the Patera retains insulating properties if you start to work up a sweat. All of this techy warmth is then held in place by a waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex shell so you can be sure you'll stay dry whether you're navigating slushy city streets or taking a snowy evening walk with your dog.

I waited through a whole Winter to test out this coat before leaving a review... Honestly, so impressed!! The quality is amazing (not sure why people are complaining about the zipper thing... It's fine.) It is extremely warm. I wore this coat all Winter long while I lived in Russia/Europe in negative temperatures celsius. I debated between this coat and the Centrale Parka because the Centrale is supposedly warmer according to Arc'teryx. The Patera Down Parka was plenty warm. I wore a down layer and sweater underneath it on really cold days but for the most part, I was really hot due to all the walking I was doing, in addition to the incredible warmth of the coat. It did really well through snow and rain. I never got wet once, even in a Spring downpour. The hood is really nice and large too so it helped keep the snow out of my face. I really liked the internal cuffs in the sleeves to keep the cold out. I also really love how long it is. It kept me warm while sitting on benches outdoors. It's pretty light weight and folds up pretty small for packing too. Totally in love! I am around 5'6" at about 140 lbs with a straight body shape. The medium size fit well but I ended up going with a large so I had extra room to layer and that fit perfectly for me. Really excited to use this coat for years to come. Highly recommend!

I really liked this coat, the fit, the specs. Unfortunately the zipper did not work unless I got it exactly in place and that usually took about 10 tries. The zipper was also very small for the weight of the coat and I am not sure that it would last even if I did struggle to get it zipped.

Bought as a gift for my wife. She loves the color, length, warmth. Works well in different conditions here in New England. Great Arc'teryx quality you would except with one exception... the zipper. Has been problematic from the start.

Before purchasing my first choice was to look  about how a business and a brand affects the community and the environment and their effort to mantain a high quality product and same time social responsable . Love everything about this jacket, the high quality materials and the sleek minimalist design, very light but warm , fits perfect with a litle room . Despite some complains about the zipper i do not find any problem with it actually i love the look and is very smooth . Thanks Backountry customer service for a great service and fast shipping .

The jacket is warm in 20 degree weather. The hood fits very well, and I like how it reached to my knees. The zipper is terrible though, very frustrating to use. Also, it stains VERY easily. I would highly recommend not getting the morganite color. Even from a small mud splash I can not get the stain out.

This jacket will truly keep you warm all winter for many years. This is my third winter with this jacket and even though I ended up acquiring more withing th black friday sales nothing compares to this, any other jacket I wear is only for fashion reasons, meanwhile this is the super duty jacket I wear when I really need to be out for long on super cold days.

It is an expensive jacket and it came very wrinkled. Also, I believe I was shipped an used jacket. Very disappointing.

Bought this as a gift for someone who is approx. 160 lbs. and 6 feet tall. It fit her perfectly! The arms were long enough, which has been a struggle for her and the fit was spot on. I think the quality of the jacket is hard to beat. I am tall "ish" at 5'8" with long arms so I am planning on buying one for myself and i would most likely buy the L as well as I would want a little extra space with the longer length.

The zipper broke less than a year after purchase, and I was told to mail it in at my own expense and that it would be NEARLY TWO MONTHS before it would be repaired and returned to me (Arc'teryx the company, not Backcountry). I'd never dropped this kind of money on a coat before, and I was shocked and disgusted that it fell apart immediately like that. It's an otherwise nice coat, but NOT worth the money.

This jacket is the most amazingly warm jacket I have ever owned. It literally feels like a warm pillow is wrapped around you. This jacket looks nice and is impervious to the cold.

Gave this to my girlfriend who has wanted this jacket for the past year and a half. It goes almost all of the way to her knees and is super warm. The fit is good although she sized up to make sure her shoulders fit with layers underneath - which means the body is roomier than she would have preferred. Otherwise, the jacket is amazing and is excited to have it for years.

I am never buying another Arcteryx product again. This is an expensive product and I thought it would be worth it for the quality. Instead my zipper breaks within months of wearing. Even though this is clearly a sign of a defective product, Arcteryx instructed me to mail the product at my own expense. In the US you have to first ship it to Washington then they say it takes to 5-10 business days for it to be received at their Warranty Repair Facility in Vancouver, B.C. Then it will take another 4-6 weeks for them to get it back to you. This is their estimate. I mailed my jacket on 10/25 via two day shipping and I still don't know when I will get my jacket back . Again, I could tolerate this if I had actually worn and used this jacket for a couple of years rather than months when the zipper broke. When I spoke with a customer service representative today about my dissatisfaction with the quality and slow pace of service, she tells me that they have a lot of jackets to fix and that at least they are paying for the shipping back. That is the least a company can do when they sell a customer a defective product. Seems like they also need better training for their customer representatives too. I think it's important for consumers who are about to spent a signficant amount of money on a product to not only know about the quality of the product but how a company responds when they've sold a customer a defective product.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the cut of the chest. I wear a B-Cup and ordered a large and there is extra material that points out. It looks ridiculous. Aside from that the body fits okay and the arms a little big. Just an all around strange fitting coat.

I can't say enough positive things about this jacket. The fit is perfect and it has just the right amount of fill insulation so it isn't overly puffy but really warm. The storm flat has small, low-profile snaps that are easy to open and close and offer a clean finish to the jacket aesthetic. I have the black sapphire and it's awesome because it wears like a traditional navy. Classic piece that will never go out of style!

I really like the length of the jacket and that I can be warm when I walk my dog in cold mornings. I appreciate the fact that I can be warm and not look like giant marshmellow!!

I bought this for my little sister who is getting through her first New York winter! Right away it fit her like a glove, though she's had issues with other coats in the past letting in too much air around the cuff! This has been perfect so far and keeps her warm, dry and toasty during her long commute to Long Island! The fit is slim, with a nice athletic feel. The pockets have been her favorite and keep everything dry and secure! Lovely Coat!

Very warm jacket. 5'10 and 135, slim shoulders, and a medium fits very well. A small would have been tight across the shoulders. Very pleased with this jacket. It makes noise, but not very much, especially considering its waterproof. It is less bulky that the Patagonia 3-in-1 and I love the big hood.

My wife was looking for a winter coat, that would be very warm (she is always cold) and be very waterproof. She wanted a coat that she could ware to work, but also on winter outings. We ordered the Arc'teryx Patera Down Parka - Women's coat and UBER White Heat Down Parka - Women's coat both in a medium. My wife is 5’11 130lbs with broad swimmers shoulders and very athletic build. We compared the coats, and she ended up choosing the Arc’teryx based solely on the fit. To us it seemed the Uber was a much higher quality coat. The magnetic closures were awesome. She stated that the Uber coat was much warmer, and much lighter and looked less bulky. The matriels on the Uber felt far nicer then the Arc’teryx The problem with the Uber coat was the length, for someone of her height, the coat only came to just below her seat. She was looking for a longer length. The Arc’teryx has been a good coat, she has noticed she needs to lawyer a little more under it, but it has been very wind and water restitent. The fit of the Arc’teryx is perfect on her.
