Preparing for the unexpected is a part of fall riding; every day won't be crisp air and glowing orange trees. Having the Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Barrier Lite Jacket stashed in your back pocket will make breezy, misty fall rides far easier to embrace, with its stretchy Barrier Lite fabric prepared to repel surprise rain showers and shield you on gusty summits.

Made from tightly-woven monofilament materials and covered by a DWR coating, Barrier Lite fabric gives you protection from the elements without imprisoning moisture, meaning you'll still be able to leave it on while climbing without feeling suffocated. Its versatility is one reason that it's able to be used either as a wind breaker on high-speed descents, as a rain protector during flash storms in the summer, or even as an extra layer to take along for winter rides — just in case.

Pearl Izumi cut the Barrier Lite to accommodate a baselayer and jersey underneath, and not much else. The streamlined fit won't flap or bunch on the descent, and its proximity to your other layers allows it to rapidly pull moisture to the surface to evaporate. Softshell Lite panels add some welcome stretch when you move around in the saddle, and reflective accents increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.

Ordered medium but too tight around arms and waist. Seems like great material though.

I bought this for protection against chilly winds and sporadic showers. I've worn it up to 27 mph against 10-12 mph winds and was impressed how well such a thin garment kept the wind chill off. Anything else I would have worn would have been uncomfortably warm or would have been pierced by the wind. I haven't worn it in rain so can't comment on it's performance there. It would be nice if it was better at wicking sweat away but that would be a whole different price range, and wouldn't make that much difference in comfort anyway. I typically wear a large and found a large in this jacket fits perfectly.

Good enough for as lightweight as it is. It will not keep you dry if it rains for more than 5 minutes. It could be longer. It could also use thumb loops. I feel like it should breath better than it does. Nice bright colors. It packs down small. It has been durable.

I've used this jacket for early morning rides and chilly descents. Rolls up small so it fits easily in a jersey pocket when you don't need it and does a good job blocking the wind. The stretch from the back panels is a nice feature. Fits true to size. I am 5'10'' with a 38'' chest and a medium was perfect. It fits close but that's how it's supposed to be. There's enough room to wear a light layer or two underneath for colder weather.

Good light jacket. Really visible. Have not had the chance to try it in the rain...

I bought this jacket for Fall riding. I wear a size 40 jacket and found the size large too small (I'm 5'9" and 175). I exchanged for an XL and it works great. Packs up small and works great to cut a little wind or help in cooler temps. I've had it on three rides and the jacket appears well made and designed.

I bought this as a windbreaker for my daily commute now that Fall has arrived. It's very lightweight and packs up tiny while still working well to block the wind, luckily I haven't had to test its waterproofness yet. It fits well in the chest and loose in the arms, enough that I could wear arm warmers or a jacket underneath. Price is great too. Would be 5 stars if the fit was a little better (longer, tighter sleeves) and if the colors were less random (I ordered the gray and green on closeout, can't really complain I suppose).

The product description "fits" it well. It is lightweight, form fitting and packs well in your jersey pocket if needed. I am a size large across all Pearl Izumi products but prefer the pro/form fit. I can get an undershirt, jersey and arm warmers under it with no problems. I have worn it in light rain and it repelled well enough. The only thing I would change is the back pocket. The opening is somewhat narrow. I do not ding it a star for this because I do not really use the pocket.
