Getting out and after those early winter rides can take a little extra motivation with a cold nip in the air. After all, the past cycling season is now just a distant memory and the thought of heading out into a grey and cold winter landscape to log some base miles is the furthest thing from our minds. But, with the holiday season quickly approaching and with racing and quick club rides returning before we know it, braving the conditions burning some calories is necessary and when doing so, we reach for the MILLE GT Jacket Winter to provide insulating warmth to keep us comfortable on those rides.

The MILLE GT Jacket is updated with the inclusion of new materials designed to enhance your cycling comfort and this particular jacket marks the point of entry for Assos quality in a cold-weather kit. Like its predecessor, it possesses extremely thin materials that offer the wind protection of much thicker jackets. Key to the jacket's cold-weather capabilities is its new NEOS Medium and NEOS Light fabrics which are both 3-layer softshells with a bonded PU membrane that are strategically located to balance breathability and ventilation with warmth.

NEOS Medium is a windproof, water-resistant material used at the front panels. Its 4-way stretch design ensures that the jacket is close-fitting while maintaining enough give to keep you comfortable while reaching to the bars and allowing for a high level of breathability. To keep you from overheating when introducing a bit of tempo and hill workouts back into your riding, Assos constructs the sleeves and an upper back panel of a more flexible, and breathable NEOS Light material that also sacrifices some wind protection.

It results in a toasty core that stays well protected without sacrificing an optimized fit across the back, shoulders, and arms for tucking into the drops, reaching for a bottle, or changing up your climbing cadence by rising from the saddle. On the lower back and under the arms is its RX fabric, a brushed, 2-way stretch wrap knit that helps the accumulated body heat exhaust while also wicking away moisture. This additional breathability is especially important as excessive body heat and internal moisture can leave you in a clammy chill for the rest of the ride.

Its fit is classic Assos and only comes from a complete understanding of the integration of the human body while on a bicycle. The MilleJacket is cut in Assos' comfortFit, so it allows for heavier layering options without deviating from a dialed, sculpted fit. A 2W waistWave construction offers a clean look that locks the hem in place preventing any freezing drafts from interfering with your ride while its Raglan cut sleeves further enhance the range of motion while in the saddle and allow for a better fit with less material flapping in the wind.

It's built with sufficient protection in mind so you'll only need a minimal base layer in temperatures above freezing, however, Assos recommends its earlyWinter or winterSkinfoil options if a long, slow, distance ride is on the docket. Whatever layering choice the weather calls for, the jacket's three open pockets ensure that you'll have plenty of storage for whatever cold-weather accessories you think you may need to pack. Constructed with Assos' Triple Ramp design, it achieves the optimal height for easy entry and with internal seams, it provides a lid of sorts, keeping the contents secure over rough roads while fully loaded.

The MILLE GT Jacket Winter is available in sizes X-Small through TIR and in the colors nationalRed, blackSeries, and blueBadge complete with a splendid MILLEgriffe design on the underarms.

WARMTH - The Mille GT Winter Jacket stands up to the quality I expect from Assos - excellent materials, form-fitting, and a seamless part of the ride. However, I find the "Winter" name a bit of a misnomer (depending where you ride!) The description accurately mentions increased airflow, but this higher permeability means I'm too cold riding in anything below 40F, even with a Winter LS Skinfoil. I've found a 3/3 Winter Skinfoil keeps me comfortable between 40-45F and a 2/3 Spring/Fall Skinfoil does the trick for 45-50F with this jacket. STYLE - I purchased the Nationalred and love that Assos wrapped the red around the back for visibility - something I wish they did on more jackets. I don't love the garment care info on the inner collar though...it's an eyesore the second you vent even a little. WISHES - Riding in cold winds usually leaves my lower face raw, and it would be awesome if Assos made an integrated face mask like the Ultraz Winter jacket (bonus points if they made it removable to swap between jackets!) OVERALL - excellent jacket for a cooler temperature band in shoulder seasons, but not the most versatile.

Huge Assos fan. Was really looking forward to this jacket but unfortunately it is tiny. I have several pair of Assos bib shorts, knickers and tights size xl. I also have several pair of their socks and gloves in the largest sizes and they just barely fit. Read that this jacket runs small so got the TIR and it is still too small. Too short and too tight in the arms, shoulders and chest. There is no way I could layer anything under it. FWIW I am 6-2, 198, 48 chest, 36 waist.

2018 was my first year of road cycling and through recommendations, Assos is the gear I use and I have fallen in love with their products. After collecting summer gear, and slowly adding fall and winter products. This winter jacket is absolute $!! The fit is just how I want it, slim and fitted and the fit and finish to this thing is 2nd to none! This morning I wore the jacket with an Assos early winter base layer. Morning temps were 35 with sun and by the end of the ride it was 50. Was comfortable the whole time with no issue. We were riding at a slow to moderate pace. At 50F, if we were getting after it I might have started to heat up a bit too much. So I would say max is 55F and if it's 50-55F a spring fall base layer would be best. Great job Assos and to the guys at CC. Looking forward to more Assos gear!!

I was looking for a replacement for my old Habu jacket. I'm a little biased in that I only wear Assos. This jacket was my 1st choice. The new NEOS material is a little stiffer than the material of my Habu, but it's still amazingly comfortable when on. I actually like the fit of this jacket better, and I love the fact that it has cuffs (unlike the Habu). I'm usually a small in EVERYTHING Assos but since CC only had this color available in the M, I went ahead and ordered it. Amazingly, the fit is spot on, nice and snug but not tight and restrictive. I'm 5-7, weigh about 134, very slim build. According to the size chart, I should be a small, but I found the M to fit great. I rode in it for the 1st time this morning. Temps were around 48-50 for the duration of the ride, with winds of 15-18 mph, so the real feel was more like low 40's. Ten minutes into the ride (with some hills of course), I was extremely comfortable (with the Fall skinfoil underneath) and never over-heated nor felt cold for the entire ride. The jacket kept me warm while allowing my body to breathe. This new material is amazing in the wind. All in all, really happy I purchased it. And love the understated design of the "BlueBadge" color with the blue zip.
