Some shorts weigh you down, some are so lightweight that they don't provide enough functional features, and some hit that sweet middle spot. The Columbia Men's Silver Ridge Cargo Shorts have lightweight, durable, and quick-drying ripstop nylon ideal for travel, camping, hiking, and backpacking while elastic sides and a low-profile belt mean your everyday belt can stick to its work and casual duties. Mesh pocket bags mean less material overall to maintain a non-restrictive feel while added Omni-Shade sun protection suits the long, hot days of summer.

These shorts look good, come with an easily adjustable belt, fit well, are super lightweight, and are durable. And they have good pockets as well. The zippered pocket makes it easy to secure a passport or wallet or other valuable that you don’t want to lose and the regular pockets are roomy and deep enough to keep items from falling out when sitting down. If there was one place for improvement it is the Velcro pocket. It has plenty of space but with only one Velcro attachment it isn’t as secure as I’d like and the flap barely holds against the pocket. The back pockets are the same design and could likewise be improved with a second strip of Velcro - or a zipper on one of them.

I own 8 pair of these shorts. They are roomy. They have just enough pockets. They are thin and quick drying. They have a great fit and are durable. I've tried lots of other kinds of shorts but these are the best.

Cool shorts. Very lightweight. I usually struggle between a 32 or 34 and I went for the 32. They did fit, but a bit thigh. I'd rather get a 34

These were meant to replace another Columbia short that they don't make anymore. Fit was so-so, minimal stretch, and the button closure rubbed on the interior. Had to go back.

I have 3 of these....that's all I can say. I love them., specially due to the material; they get dry really fast.

Fast dry and wearing comfy. But two zippers on the left side pocket and the groin are lousy and the velcro on the right side pocket is not dependable. I worry that my wallet could be lost all the time.

The feedback I received for these shorts were that they were amazingly light and fit true to their size.

These shorts got me through a 3-day backcountry tour. I wore leggings under and the shorts offered good wind protection and durability while sitting on abrasive surfaces. Dries fast too. Were a little tight in the waist so I recommend sizing up. The belt is nice, doesn't get int he way of backpack straps.

These have become an everyday short for me. I was tired of having to buy shorts from American Eagle, GAP, etc every year because somewhere along the way stitching would fail, they would tear....something would happen to them. I bought a pair of these shorts for a summer trip and after a few years of having the same shorts for hiking I decided to buy more for my everyday summer wear. I have yet to replace a pair of these....even my original ones. They are soooo light that you almost feel like you forgot to put on clothes when you leave your house. They dry super fast if they get wet....just a great short! I prefer the older model with the zipper right back pocket and no left back pocket......but the velcro will do.

Nice pair of light weight shorts. Dry fast and are comfy. Belt is pretty cheesy but it does come off so I have replaced it with a standard webbing belt. The length is pretty good. They Fall right at the knee. Might be nice to be a hair shorter but still good.

I purchase a lot of clothing from Backcountry and recently have purchased a few pairs of shorts that would fall under the category of the Columbia Silver Ridge. They are ok shorts but for the money I would buy more pairs of the Patagonia shorts. The Columbia shorts seem to have cheap zippers compared to the zippers on Patagonia shorts. Other than the zipper I would probably purchase these shorts again but would definitely look at others first.

I had to return my first order as I had ordered my normal size. Too Small. I have recieved 2 pairs that fit (one size larger) and they are awesome. They are now my go to shorts. The zippered cargo pockets are excellent.
