All of my racks are pretty much Thule, but I recently got a Yakima bike rack. The Thule lock cores are longer than the Yakima cores, so they won't fit in the rack and visa versa. They install just as easy and work just as good though! I bought the 8 pack even though I only needed 2 locks because eventually I will need more Yakima locks, and now I can keep the future racks on the same key!

both mean the same thing. lock you bike to the rack, your rack to the crossbar, the crossbars to the car. all with one key.

Super easy installation (literally takes minutes) and your rack system and other accessories in my case: Yakima Frontloader Bike Mount x 2 and Yakima FatCat 6 will be safe! Keep your mind at peace and your outdoor toys safe!!!

These were a no brainer for all of our Yakima gear so we could do away with all the separate keys...worth the money!

Once you go to a Yakima rack, you won't go back. I've had the same core locks since I started racking my cars about 10 years ago. These cores have been in 3 different rack systems. Just keep the "blank" key, and it's a cinch to pull them out of one rack. I recommend getting a big pack of cores (at least 8) with the same key... as you'll be using these cores for the base rack, plus ski rack, bike racks, and more. These locks are not super cheap, but are definitely worth the $- without them, someone could unclip your rack and walk away (in seconds) with hundreds of dollars of rack, plus whatever you are carrying!!

These cores are easy to install and remove using the "blank" key. I bought these back in 2000 and they have never failed. The locks also have a dirt guard. Note: Do not throw away your blank key, you will need it to remove your cores if you want to put them into another Yakima product. I just switch out my cores when I switch from bike to kayak mounts instead of buying more cores.

So far, the Yakima system I put together from 3 different suppliers has worked just fine. I bought most components from this site as was pleased with the price. The system is fairly easy to setup and feels sturdy enough to not worry about putting my new Cannondale on. I certainly would purchase this whole setup again.

I've used my racks for kayaks, and general transport and have always found the products to be well designed. I have to admit that I was really skeptical about the way the bike attached and if it would really hold. The bike becomes part of the car and if you move the bike (even pulling on it with all your might) the car moves and the bike stays firmly attached. Easy to install and use.

Found the Yakima lock cores here for much less then local stores. They were the real deal and worked like a charm. I saved close to 50%!!
