The trails around home will always be special, but sometimes you’ve just gotta throw your stallions onto the Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack and get out to ride some new dirt, ya know? Whether you’re rallying out to PNW loam, desert slickrock or New England roots, the HoldUp’s padded StrongArms will lock down your wheels (provided they’re between 20 and 29in), and you can slide the trays away from each other to make sure your bikes don’t bang together on washboard back roads.

Forgot the snacks in the back? No worries, just tilt the HoldUp down, even if it’s loaded, and fuel up for the second leg of the journey. The included Single Key System (SKS) locks secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to the car, so you can stop in for a worry-free cup of Road Trip Blend to fuel you on the second leg of the journey.

PROS- Overall this is a great quality, great paint, strong rack. Wiggle free hitch mount and bike stays still at speed and hard cornering for aggressive drivers. Fits a 27.5+ hardtail with 3.25 inch Vee Tires. 'Soda' bottle opener ha. Compact when folded. Wouldn't look further for a bike rack. CONS- Comes with a stupid short cable lock. I have a small frame and it doesnt reach unless I twist and yank the cable and bike. Came with a dent. Manufacturer could have added better packing for the lower bars but its hiddent once assembled.

This bike rack is INSANELY strong. Someone hit me while I Parked directly on the rack and let me tell the guy that hit me DESTROYED his car completely and the rack barely got bent!!! This thing is a monster very recommended!

The Yakima Hold up is a tank. It barely moves at all in all conditions. The materials came mostly pre-assembled. They are made out of solid metal where possible instead of plastic. The arm clamping system actually holds your gear down solid.

This bike rack is easy to use, durable, and has capacity to grow! The ratchet system locks bikes of any size in securely and the integrated cable lock is a handy feature to fend of thieves. The available add on is great for road trips and family use. I would recommend this bike to anyone in search of a quality hitch rack.

This rack is convenient, easy to use, and easy to install. PSA if you have a car where the exhaust comes straight out the back it WILL melt your carbon rims. This may sound like a rookie move to some, but I had no idea that carbon rims would melt on these racks!

I waited a few months to write this review, just to make sure I provide an accurate and fair review. ... It's been about 3 months already and I'm loving it! It was easy to install (easy-to-read instructions) and looks great on my small SUV. Folds very easily, despite having the lever close to the actual hitch. I haven't tried lowering the rack when there are two bikes on it (to open the trunk, for example). That is the only situation where I could imagine it being a little tricky to reach the lever (and this is only an assumption!). Bikes are very secured and glued to the rack. Love the built-in locking mechanism for some extra safety when hitting a restaurant or leaving the car for a few minutes. I was debating between the Thule rack (the similarly priced Thule version) and this one, but slightly better reviews exist for this Yakima. One of competitivecyclist.com's gearhead, Todd Frein, gave me very good first-hand information and advice regarding both racks and I pulled the trigger for the Yakima. I could not be happier with both the product and the assistance (and patience!) provided by my gearhead. You won't be disappointed with this product.

Originally ordered what I thought was the right Yakima Rack, but Ian at customer service called a day latter and questioned the order. As it turned out I ordered a "2 bike extension" instead of the rack that actually fits into the trailer hitch. He had UPS reverse the shipment and sent the right Yakima Product. Very Nice! As for the Yakima Bike Rack, it holds my new bike securely and without scratching it. The best part of the rack is the built in bike locks. Locks up your bike quick and conveniently. Great purchase and great customer service!

This rack does everything I expected and more. It is very easy to put your bikes on the rack, and they feel quite secure once they're on. It's also adjustable in case your bars and seat run into each other. It folds up more compactly than most of the other racks I've seen, and is not too heavy to take on and off. Looks great and does its job very well!

This is a great bike rack that I have used countless times. It is super easy to load and unload your bikes, which helps get you on the trails faster! It is extremely durable and it one of the best racks out there! Yakima really stepped up to the plate when they made The Holdup. I would recommend this product to any riders ranging from experts all the way to beginners.

I absolutely love this rack. I'll go out and say it, this is the best rack out on the market. It is easy to use, very durable, and a super quality rack. Other racks out there tend to fade and deteriorate over time. I have had mine for 3 years now, it is never parked indoors and it has been beaten time and time again. It is holding up great! No fading and everything works perfectly. I have had no issues. The locks even work like a charm. The bikes are very secure when mounted and I feel confident flying down any dirt road or highway with my bikes hanging on the back of the car. You really can't go wrong with this rack, believe me you will not be disappointed. You even have an option to go with the plus 2 bike extension down the road if you want to carry 4 bikes.

I purchased this rack and am happy to report nothing but positive feedback so far. It comes disassembled but the instructions are easy to follow and all the parts were there. From beginning to end it probably took 30-40 minutes to install and the directions were simple. Yakima even includes all applicable tools for assembly (wrench and hex key). I also like that this rack comes equipped with a hitch lock and integrated bike locks to make it ready for use right out of the box and nice to be able to ride before work and leave my bike locked for the remainder of the day. It's priced competitively compared to other racks and what really sold me on this rack was the compact design as I don't have a lot of extra room when parked in my garage. Very easy to get your bikes on and off and the bottle opener is a good touch as well, especially after those dusty rides. So far I have nothing but good things to say and am happy with the quality, design, value.

The Holdup is the best compact rack on the market. it folds up small and sits high for narrow and low vehicles. I had this on my Subaru and got one as a gift for my brother. It is a great value and is finished very well.

I've wanted a hitch/ hold up rack for a while and although it is quite heavy I'm still super happy with it. The biggest strength is that I can easily put 2 bikes on it without any bike on bike interference and so far I have not had to make any adjustments so that two bikes fit next to each other. Installation was very straight forward, but definitely needed a socket wrench to tighten it down (the wrench that came with it was not adequate for the job). Two other great features are that it comes with locks for each bike and it folds up nice and compact. When the bikes are loaded they feel secure and put my mind at ease no matter where I'm driving.

I love this thing. It has no wiggle in the entire system. Nothing in the hitch or anything! Not sure if I got lucky but it is amazing. It locks down the bikes by the tire. My friends that hooks to the frame scratches bikes. It may be a little long with the attachment for 4 bikes but I don't care. It's legit.

This rack is as high end as I'll ever need. I thoroughly shopped around for a good 2 bike, 2 inch, hitch rack. I ended up with the Yakima Holdup 2 and am completely satisfied with my decision. I installed it the night before a Moab trip, with proper whiskey lubrication, took me about 30 min. All the tools for installation are included and the process is very straight forward. The rack preformed perfectly down in the desert on somewhat sketchy dirt/rock roads, plenty of ground clearance. For those looking for a good, sturdy, simple hitch rack I would definitely recommend checking this out!

....but got way more than that. This rack is the solution. It's heavy but not too heavy when I go to take it off and put into storage for the winter. Otherwise, it stays on all summer and I can't say I ever notice it until I need it. The engineering is simple and straightforward, meaning everything is easy from the setup on. I sometimes wish I didn't have to bend down to pull the release knob but we can't all live like kings, right?

I have nothing but good things to say about this rack. I previously had a hitch rack that I had to buy an anti rattle/locking pin separately, but was pretty happy that those things came standard on this rack. I know my bike won't move when I'm on the road and if I need to make a pit stop, I don't have to worry about my bike thanks to the integrated bike locks for each tray. A lot of racks feel cheaply made but not this one. This baby is sturdy. Last thing, it has a built in bottle opener!

I've been using this rack for a few years at this point and have yet to be disappointed. It might be on the heavy end of the spectrum, but that means it's ultra-sturdy and limits unwanted bike movement in off-road situations. The ability to mount up the 2 bike add-on is a solid plus. It attaches with only one bolt and a cotter pin to allow 4 bike transport. Keep the 2 bike on for everyday use, and slip on the add-on for desert trips with the crew.
