The Men's River Shorts are the ultimate do-it-all short for any activity. Thanks to a 2-way stretch nylon fabric, you can swim, bike, climb, or hike with unrestricted movement. A DWR treatment resists water and dries quickly when you decide to hit the river after a week in the desert, and a built in adjustable belt keeps your drawers up after living off of energy gels and campfire meals.

The Topo Deign River Shorts are basically my go-to for summer days. They are advertised as water shorts but are great for hiking, climbing and just hanging out. I have a size 31 waist and the mediums are a good fit. The River Shorts are approximately 5" inseam and very stretchy. The material is not the 'silky' type of fabric that you might be used to for swim trunks but feels more similar to a starchy cotton. It's a bit rougher on your skin but I think that has to do with the DWR treatment which wicks water off when you get them slightly wet. Overall they are very comfortable in and out of the water. My only real complaint is with the belt lock system. The buckle works great and holds them securely on my waist but the elastic on the waist band seems to be a bit limited. This means that if you loosen the belt strap, then go to put them on or off you will likely hit the limits of the elastic much sooner than you think. This is kind of annoying because even with the belt all the way loose they are a bit tight on and off. I would think that because they have the belt they could just add extra elastic but oh well. The color I have is yellow which I don't think is offered anymore but in case it ever comes back it looks great! For the price there are a lot of good options out there but I do enjoy these a lot.
