Just barely picked up the Thule Pulse Cargo Box yesterday. I was expecting a bit of a wrestling match to get it mounted to my AeroBlade Edge bars (Item #THU0379). I was wrong. What a cinch. The Pulse is light enough to for me to put up on top of my Subaru without help and the tool free clamps are a breeze to use. A quick test drive on the freeway offered no significant drag or noise and the Large size should easily swallow our camp stuff. The Pulse L might (might!) be a bit too small for my skis during the winter, but should make getting gear to-from adventures much easier on my typically squeezed passengers. Off to the desert this weekend to put it to the test.

I bought the medium size last week and used it camping over the weekend. I loved it because it fit almost all our gear (including a very large tent) for two people and three dogs for two nights and freed up lots of room inside the car for the dogs. Easy to install and take down, easy access to the gear. I'm very happy with it. It did have a slight, rare defect, so I took it back today to exchange. They no longer had the medium in stock in the warehouse by my work, so I said I'd pay the difference for the large that they did have in stock, and I was okay with that. Of course Backcountry always goes above and beyond in customer service, so without me even asking they cut me a deal on the large since they didn't have the medium in stock. Just one of many more-than-satisfactory experiences with Backcountry, and the reason I keep coming back.

This is a perfect box for skis. It will fit skis up to about 195 or so. It is big enough to fit 6 pairs of adult skis and poles. Very simple to install. One person can do it. I was able to install it on my 99 outback so that the back liftgate opens all the way, but it doesn't stick out too much over the front window. The locking system works great. perfect ski box!

I bought the Thule Pulse Cargo Box for my 2015 subaru forrester, it's unofficially our family wagon. As such, extra storage is a requirement to accommodate my family of five on any type of meaningful road-trip or outdoor adventure. We easily double our load capacity and are able to cram in all the essentials to ensure our trips run smooth. The installation is super easy. I highly recommend that you tighten the box before every trip. I will usually check mine every so often on a longer trip while filling up gas, just to be sure. The only real con is that it's a single sided box, so you have to open it from the passenger side. I don't really care, but I can see that being a disadvantage in some situations.

Great box, lock is smooth, very easy to operate. Roomier than it looks in the pictures, easily fits four pairs of big skis, maybe more. Still low profile for gas mileage and garage clearance. Attachment system is super easy and tool free, very secure. Also it's compatible with any crossbars. Pros: -Easy, tool free installation -Low profile but bigger than it looks -Very smooth one-lock closure -compatible with any crossbar -More affordable than the bigger, fancier boxes -Looks Great, especially on smaller cars Cons: -Not as roomy as the bigger boxes (plenty of room for my needs) -Single sided opening (not a big deal to me)
