Probably the worst experience I have had with Simms wading products by far. The soles on these wading shoes started to peel up after only 3 uses. Completely unacceptable. Even though I purchased these at a deep discount, the sour taste of a bad purchase has outlived the initial sweetness of a good price. Save your pennies for something better.

Just used these shoes on a kayak/fly fishing trip in Central KY. I was pleasantly surprised by how they felt when navigating larger rocks. There is enough sole thickness and rigidity there that you don't even feel the rocks. That was one of my big concerns going from wading boot to wading shoe. There is also a nice cushioned insole. I waded in them all day and my feet felt great. The grip is also excellent for such a small surface area. I would definitely recommend these shoes.

At first I was not a big fan of the new style, material changes, and overall design updates compared with my older pair ca. 2012. But after a week of solid night and day use in the boudary waters i have to say that this is a very solid version of an already great shoe. The additional arch support and reinforced sole Simms developed makes this more than an average athletic outdoors shoe. The grippy rubber and potential for adding studds makes the new rip-rap a fitting shoe for going in and out of water, and navigating rocky terrain while hauling gear.

These are awesome exactly what I was looking for. These will work great f you spend all day on the river and are looking for a more minimalist approach. The soles are stiff and thick so you feel will not feel it after all day on the river.

I'm not sure why Simms decided to change the design of the riprap shoe. I've gone through at least a dozen other water shoes and nothing even came close to those. I tried on the new style but didn't buy them. The price on the new ones went down $30 but I would have gladly spent that on the old design. I'm kicking myself for not buying an extra pair but with such positive reviews on the old style i didn't think they would change. Especially with something inferior. That's not usually the way Simms operates. Since I haven't used these on the stream I didn't think it was fair to only give it one star. The old style was 5+ stars.
