Whether or not you spend upwards of 300 days a year on the water, you want gear that won't let you down when you do get to spend some quality time on the river. With its three-layer Gore-Tex shell, the Simms Men's G3 Guide jacket handles everything from drizzly days on the Olympic Peninsula to storm days in the Rockies. A burly 70-denier face fabric resists the wear and tear only a river can dish out, while its fully adjustable hood lets you hunker down when the rains fall on a slant. Water-resistant Dry Cuffs seal out water when you release your catch, and the six pockets along the front of the jacket give you a place to keep a couple of fly boxes close at hand.

Gore Tex jackets are the most reliable waterproof jackets on the market and this one is no different. All of the details make this a great fishing jacket.

I picked this up for a buddy who's an avid fly guy here in the Wasatch. He's used it on the Provo and Green in a few rain storms and said it kept him fully dry while still remaining very breathable. Very stylish design as well with excellent durability.

Wading jackets are cut shorter than most so if you want this to double as a casual rain shell I'd suggest the G4 for its longer body. Loved this jacket but returned it because an inch or two of my undercoat showed and i also like to be able to synch my belt over my jacket when in my boat or yak. Also for sizing I'm 6'1 and 170 and had a medium so if youre shorter than me you might be alright.

Fishing specific jacket. Pockets specific for boxes and a few zinger attachments. 3L gore tex keeps u completely dry, and u won't have to worry about an errant cast putting a hole in it. zingers attachments are a nice touch. Fly patch is also a very convenient feature. On par in price with other 3 layer gore tex jackets, tho this one has fishing specific features. Also a warm and wind proof jacket so u can wear it on non rainy but chilly days as well. No reasons not to give it 5 stars. Standard w Simms, runs big. Had to size down one.

I have had this jacket for several seasons. I wont be trapped in a storm without it. It is highly water proof. Other features that I love are the adjustable hood, brushed inner neck and pockets for face and hand comfort. Did I mention it has huge pockets. two chest pockets provide enough for several small fly boxes and one huge pocket in the back can be used for large fly boxes, extra layering, or fish, if your one of those people.
