Sun protection doesn't have to involve endless bottles of sun block or a stuffy and uncomfortable sun shirt, at least not with the Patagonia Tropic Comfort Hooded Shirt. This ultralight option gives you reliable UPF 50+ protection from strong summer rays, but keeps it cool and comfortable in the heat thanks to the new Capilene Cool Daily technology. Capilene Cool was developed to build on the already breathable and moisture-wicking performance of Patagonia's Capilene baselayers, with an updated construction that thrives in hot weather.

You'll stay drier and cooler than ever before, while the thumb hole loops and adjustable hood keep you covered from your hands to your head. The hood fits snugly over a baseball hat and cinches in tightly while you fish or hike, and the thumb holes offer coverage to keep the back of your hand protected too. There's even a small zippered pocket in the rear to keep small gear and essential items safely tucked away, so whether you're climbing into the car or reaching for a new fly, you won't have to worry that you dropped it somewhere on the trail.

The feel of this fabric and fitted yet relaxed cut of this shirt are spot on. Bought this shirt for a fishing trip. Very excited to try it out.

I bought this shirt at the beginning of the summer, and I wore the heck out of it. It's still in perfect condition. It's way easier than slathering up in a metric ton of sunscreen. I bought a small, and maybe could have sized down, but I didn't want it sticking to me, so it's worked out fine. I live in really hot, humid area, and if I wasn't actively moving (biking), I would get hot quickly. It sheds heat well, but humidity is a killer.

This is a well made, comfortable, and functional top. It's light weight, and I've been able to comfortably wear it in the CO 80s. I needed something that could provide sun protection that wouldn't also cause me to over-heat, and this fits the bill. I'm a Medium 99% of the time, and this is true to size, if only a little small/form fitting. The sleeve and body length fit me perfectly, which is unusual- at 5'5" tops are sometimes a little long on me (particularly sleeves), so if you are tall, you may need to size up. I bought the white/grey, and I love the baseball style color/look. I always layer it over another top, but I haven't found it to be particularly see through. There is a strangely placed pocket on the middle side back, which I use rarely, but has worked fine when I needed to stash my keys. Also, so far so good on the anti-stink front... I haven't found it holding onto odors.

I bought this for a desert hiking trip and it nailed it! It was 95 degrees without any shade and this shirt kept me cool enough that I didn't overheat or get sunburned. The sleeves could've been a hair longer to tuck my thumb in but it did a great job at protecting the backs of my hands. LOVE IT!
