When you're battling through brush to get to a secret fishing spot or chopping wood in the backyard, you need a jacket that protects you from the elements without holding you back. The Patagonia Tough Puff Insulated Shirt features a tough shell fabric that withstands encounters with thick vegetation and rough rock while remaining flexible enough to allow you to cast flies and swing axes unencumbered.

A DWR coating shakes out passing showers, while FullRange insulation adds the right touch of warmth for brisk days and chilly nights, without restricting mobility. Known for its use in Patagonia's synthetic baselayers, Capilene fabric in the lining manages moisture to keep you from getting cold and clammy. Patagonia also added a large chest pocket that's perfect for stashing your fly box, and with its laid-back work-shirt inspired styling, this can be your go-to on cold days around town, too.

I bought this for my fiance and it seemed to fit him very oddly. He is a large in almost every brand (XL if it is a more technical fit) and purchased a large. This jacket was absolutely huge through the body but was barely long enough (he is 6'2"). I ended up returning it and not purchasing the medium since it would likely be a bit shorter.

Great jacket to wear around town or out to the bars on a fall night

Lightweight, super long length (I'm 6'6"), lots of pockets and just the right warmth level for in between days. Glad I found out about it. Oddly enough, I've never seen this on Patagonia's website or in one of their stores.

This thing is amazing! Super stylish when you want to look classy out around town, yet also functional and warm out on the water. Very simple which I like. Zipper chest pocket, two non-zippered waist pockets, with two internal dump pockets, simple snap closer. Definitely made for the angler. Very relaxed fit but still feels and looks really nice. Definitely size way down on this guy. I'm 6' - 165 lbs. I went with a size: SMALL and I think it fits awesome! I wear a 46 Regular sports coat and XL fits great. Very soft fabric and light weight. It exceeded my expectations. Back Country shipped immediately and when I called customer service with a request, they could not have been more accommodating and friendly. I found my new go to store.

I got the Patagonia Tuff Puff Shirt Jacket a couple weeks ago and have been wearing it a ton ever since. It's extremely comfortable - stretchy, breathes well - and even has hand pockets (crucial). I wear it as a shirt over a t-shirt, or as a midlayer - it's been great for travel this fall, as it can be worn the entire trip! *This definitely runs one full size big. I typically wear a Large, and in the Tough Puff Shirt medium fits me perfectly.*

Until the Tough Puff I never would have called myself a 'shacket guy'... I figured you either wear a jacket or you don't... so either did - or didn't. Then the Tough Puff came along and my world was changed. I would definitely call this closer to a shirt than a jacket. I tend to run on the warm side of things and this is great for cool mornings and warm afternoons... inside and/or out. First off, this thing looks slick... I mean classy. Just as much at home on the hill as it is in the pub. Face fabric is durable enough to wear as an outer layer and not worry about abrasion, technical enough but with none of that techy vibe. Works great as a layering piece when it's under a shell. I've worn it out on the river a time or two now under my waders and it has kept me warm and comfortable the whole time on the water. Zippered chest pocket gives you a safe and secure place to store your small and important items. Two hand pockets are great to warm hands up real quick, and two big drop pockets on the inside... well... I haven't found a great use for those yet, but I have no doubt that there is one. As far as sizing goes... a little wonky there. The Tough Puff runs a full size large.

I received the Patagonia Tough Puff Insulated Shirt today in size medium, color industrial green. I tried on both the Tough Puff Jacket and Shirt prior to ordering - both styles run about 1 size large. I typically wear Large jackets from Patagonia; however, I am stoked I ordered Medium in the Tough Puff. The fit is great, the fabric is nice and soft, with a good amount of stretch. This will be getting a ton of use this fall! I'll report back with more info once I've had a chance to wear it for a bit.
