I am an alpine photographer in Colorado and backcountry skier. This is an Excellent thermal layer and stuffs easily. 6’ 180 lbs with fairly wide shoulders and range of motion is good with large size.

I wore this today in moderately cold weather over a down vest and fleece base layer. The jacket looked and felt great, aided by the vest and base layer. Perfectly fitted hood is snug around your face, with or without a hat. The neck zips up high and forms a nice seal around your neck. The side pockets are deep and placed right for easy stowage or hand warming. Patagonia makes excellent down coats, generally. The nano puff is no exception.

While this jacket is warm, light, and comfy, it is also made with very cheap materials. I was wearing my jacket and leaned in too close to a warm cooking pan for no more than a second. The exterior material of the jacket instantly melted, leaving holes in the jacket. So disappointing after having paid so much for this jacket.

It’s a running joke that I never leave home without it. I bring this jacket everywhere and am on my 2nd one. First one was stolen after some aggressive oyster eating in Northern California. Someone is enjoying my lovely jacket. But I replaced it with the exact same one. That’s love. I use this jacket in the backcountry as a mid layer. I run hot so I don’t really need another mid layer jacket. This thickness keeps me warm even on really cold days skiing.

This jacket is great, it is very lightweight so I instantly became suspicious on how warm it would actually be but when I wore it outside in the rain and cold wind it stood up just great. When I took it off and touched the inside it felt soooo warm, it is very well insulated. Don't let the its lightweight full you, this jacket is a keeper.

I've worn it in while skiing in a snowstorm in the Swiss Alps under a shell, with the hood up under my helmet, and it kept me toasty the whole time. I wear it under my motorcycle jacket on colder days. I wear it daily over a tee shirt when running errands in the winter. It has really outperformed all my expectations. If you're sitting still in freezing weather, maybe you should get something more substantial, but considering how light weight this jacket is, it performs incredibly. For extreme conditions like rain or high wind, it should be paired with a shell.

I've worn this jacket through one winter in the midwest and love it. It's my go to jacket that I wear every day no matter what conditions winter's throwing at me. My only complaint is that it tends to absorb water a bit but otherwise it's the best insulated jacket I've ever owned. If/when this one's had it's day, I'll gladly purchase another. It's ridiculously light weight and the warmth I get from it is a constant surprise. I fully expect when wearing it out the door in the teens and twenties to be cold but that's not the case. The fit is perfect, as with most Patagonia gear; I'm 205 lbs and 6'2" and the L is perfect without synching the waist cord. The hood is an added bonus and adds another element of warmth. Perfect jacket, don't change a thing.

This is a great year round jacket for coastal SF Bay Area. Got black for the solar heating properties and a hood for when the wind blows chilly. Great look and solid construction.

I have an older version of this jacket and felt it is time to get one for my husband as a gift, not expecting he will like it as much as he does, he practically lives in it since he got it. It's perfect for the milder winter weather we usually have in the Pacific NW, and you can definitely also win over the rainy weather with a shell over it. Quality of the garment is great too, no issues so far.

Read a lot of good reviews before buying this and so had high hopes. I’ve purchased a fair amount of Patagonia gear and this is the first thing I’ve truly been disappointed with. My main complaint is it is not a warm jacket. I’m not expecting it to keep me toasty at or below freezing, but even in the mid- to upper 40’s it’s cold and even a bit drafty. It’s a fair amount of money to pay for what is essentially a windbreaker. Unfortunately I’m 7 days past when I could have returned it so I’m stuck. My advice is if you’re looking for a synthetic fill jacket, keep looking.

Temps dropped to the low 40's at night on the trip I took this on. This puffy packs down small when you don't need it and kept me cozy for those chilly mornings when breaking camp.

I love the fit and warmth of this jacket. How is it so light but still so warm?!! This is a great jacket if you need something warm that doesn't take up a lot of space. It fits true to size, If i was 5-10 pounds lighter, I would have gone with the Large instead of the XL.

I bought it for my husband to replace a cheap light down jacket he'd ruined wearing it walking home in the rain too often. This jacket works perfectly for what he wants it for and I'm happy that it's synthetic so when he gets it wet I know its still keeping him warm. It packs down really well for a synthetic layer as well great for stashing in your pack!

This jacket isn't as warm as I hoped for, a bit disappointed with it. I had an REI jacket with the same synthetic insulation, was much better- wish I hadn't outgrown it. First off- the sizing is weird. Usually wear medium, I felt medium was a bit tight on my waist and way too tight on shoulders. Large fits comfy on shoulders but freaking huge on my waist. Meant for a fat man I guess? Second-guessing wind seeps in which is what really disappointed me. Lastly the cinch chord only on one side- there's a reason almost every jacket uses two sides for this. Doesn't work well and looks awful. Honestly for a high end syn jacket, you pay too much and get so little. Not worth it.

The Nano Puff has been a best seller for Patagonia for years, and will be for the foreseeable future. Warm, comfortable, breathable, and will put up with whatever you can put yourself thru in the outdoors.

Lightweight, packable, and lightly insulative, this jacket is a great midlayer for skiing or as a comfy but not overly cozy spring-weather covering.

Excellent coat from Patagonia. Very functional to say the least. Looks great over anything and also works great under a shell. Well worth the price, glad I got it!
