Say goodbye to hiking in your waders on hot summer days in search of cold, high-mountain lakes, and say goodbye to those waders eating up half the space in your pack if you decide to circumnavigate the previous heinous process. For traveling fishers and backcountry anglers, the Men's Patagonia Middle Fork Packable Waders are a game-changing no-brainier—they weigh less than two pounds and pack down into a compact 8 x 13in stuffsack. Not only can you stow them easily in your kayak or suitcase, but you can still feel confident in high-performing material that keeps you dry while you're casting on the river and won't fall apart when you encounter rocky situations or repeatedly stuff it into your pack. Seamless, liquid-neoprene-resembling booties ensure dry feet with a smooth, chafe-free fit in your boots, and minimalist suspenders and wading belt keep them up while still maintaining a low profile.

These waders are exactly what they claim; packable and lightweight. Having said that its always a bit of a give and take when it comes to shedding weight. In the case of these waders they are incredibly thin and susceptible to tears much more than the regular ones. The good news is that they come with a patch kit. The bad news is I didn't bring it on the trip so while one leg was snug as a bug, the other was frozen solid and full of water.

I bought these specifically for a trip to Utah (from Delaware). I compared these to another major brand of light weight waders and these were lighter and took up much less room. One of the things that makes them so light, is the feet. they are a thin rubber like material that is substantially less bulky than neoprene. They feel a little funny at first, but once I put on a pair of 3 mm neoprene socks under the waders, they fit great and also added warmth. They did not skimp on the features. They have a suspender system that allows them to be slid down to waist high very early. Not only will I use these when I travel, but I think I will probably use them during warm weather next year. They are also a great pair of backup waders for when doing more local trips.
