Not to mention, vest is best—specifically the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater Vest. Designed to maintain core warmth, the Down Sweater Vest features high-loft, 800-fill Traceable Down insulation, which traps that hard-earned heat and promotes effortless temperature regulation—without making you feel as though you're a tire-toting inanimate object. Additionally, the Traceable Down is certified by NSF (an independent third party) and is derived from geese that are never force-fed or live-plucked, meaning you can feel good about feeling good and cozy. A durable shell protects the down insulation from abrasive obstacles and daily wear, while the DWR treatment fends off light moisture build-up and precipitation. Meanwhile, an adjustable hem seals in warmth, and the contoured, slim fit provides a flattering, chic fit. So whether you're perusing the winter farmer's market in search of fresh greens or settling in for a long day of work at the computer, the Down Sweater Vest assures dependable style and warmth.

This was everything I was hoping for, untill I looked in the mirror. I ordered the birch white and throughout the fabric it looked liked like small stains were scattered through out the fabric, only to realize it was the darker pieces of the fill showing through. Not sure if this was a random defect or the fill is not dyed. I had to do a full return as all darker colors were sold out. I will hope for next year and start earlier.

In the past, I've always purchased cheaper puffy vests with synthetic fill, because I couldn't fathom spending this much on a vest. However, I used my JC Penney brand black vest (purchased in college when cheap is best) for a good six years then decided that I had probably gotten my $25 worth from it, and since I wore it often enough, I needed to consider upgrading. I tried on black down vests from several different outdoors brands, and finally landed on the Patagonia Down Sweater Vest (even though it was the most expensive) because it fit me the best. The torso is longer than the North Face ones I tried on, but it isn't encroaching on "tunic" territory. In the winter, I wear this pretty much every day–I maybe start wearing it a little early, on chilly evenings at the end of fall, with short sleeves and shorts. It layers great under a coat if you really need that (which isn't often, in Arkansas), and I know it's going to last me even longer than that cheap JC Penney vest.

This is a great investment piece and is worth the price for the weight, packability, and warmth. I have used this hiking and skiing in the snow with just a merino wool baselayer, sleeping in cold desert nights down to 20*F with a 3/4 zip fleece underneath, and walking around town. It has kept me warm and dry. I have owned it for about 2 years and have no problems with staining or loss of warmth. Worth every penny. I have a large and am able to wear fairly thick fleece underneath. I am 5f2i, 36D, and about 160lbs with fairly curvey hips and have no issues with tightness to the chest or hips.

I love the Patagonia brand! I have the vest now plus the nano puff jacket. They are both great for fall to winter seasons.

Great fit. Perfect for around town with jeans or as a layer for snow sports. It’s quite warm and high quality. Cute pattern and color on the navy with the inside being a bright blue. Very happy with my purchase. I think it will be a go to piece for a long time.

I've always been a bit skeptical when it came to vests. I always tried them on and thought I looked frumpy. This down sweater vest is not the case - it has a slim fit but still gives you room to move in it. I'm usually between a medium and a large and I went with a medium. I've worn it a handful of times and my favorite times to wear it are on chilly runs or just running errands around town when I don't want to wear a coat.

I have two. I wear my black vest with so much! It’s just the right weight and warmth for me. I can wear it over a fleece or under a heavier coat for additional warmth. I typically wear a medium, but this is cut slim and I have hips so I got a large. It’s roomy for me to fit a thick layer underneath though.

I waited a long time to have one of these. I do see here they're on sale again...trying to tell myself it's ok to have 2 colors... :). I bought the black and it's perfect - warm and goes with everything. It does run a touch small. I ordered the medium and the large. Large is too big and the medium is just a touch snug. I kept medium and wear it everyday! Happy Winter!

What a great down vest! Perfect outerware for nippy weather and that long trip in a vehicle. It's not cumbersome and you can keep it on in your car. Love the Pesto color. It's a soft light olive with a hint of gray overtones.

I love this vest. Runs small, however. I ordered the large and it fits well, typical of other Patagonia items I have. Love the Currant color and hip length. And the inside zip pocket is handy. Doesn't make me look like I have one padded breast like the Marmot vest I had did.I haven't worn it too many times yet but am sure this will be a go to item this winter.

Bought this as a gift for my mom and it's received 2 big thumbs up! She mentioned its ultra stylish, a perfect layer for those colder days, and packs down small for traveling. you can't go wrong with the Patagonia Down Sweater Vest if you're looking for a functional and stylish gift for a woman in your life!

I was looking for something that was warm but NOT overly bulky. The Patagonia Vest is great for layering, I love using it as a Mid insulation layer on cold winter days and as a stand alone piece in fall. I understand these high end garments are an investment and you cannot go wrong with responsibly sourced "Traceable Down." -Ashley F

The Patagonia Down Sweater Vest is a classic that I'd recommend to anyone. It is down, so it regulates temperature really well by keeping you warm when it is cold, but you don't burn up if it gets too warm out. Since it is a vest, it is more versatile than the regular Down Sweater because you can still wear it as a layering piece under a shell, but it has tons of ventilation with your arms being free. I primarily wear it over a long sleeved t-shirt, but also wear it over a baselayer and under a shell. I found the fit to be true to size and it fits really well.

I was hesitant because of the price but after buying my Torentshell jacket which I love, I knew I needed this. I ordered an XS and it fitted just as expected... Perfect fix and super flattering. 10/10 recommend!

As others warned, this has an odd fit. I usually wear a M in Mountain Hardwear, so I ordered an L for this vest. It was still too tight across the shoulders and hips, but huge in the waist area. So it's going back. It's a good 4 inches narrower than a Land's End L down vest that I ordered last year, but an inch wider than an REI down vest in L. I wish manufacturers would find some consistency!

I bought this vest 4 years ago and just bought myself a new one! I bought a new one not because the original was at the end of it's life, but because my sister stole mine! The nerve! The vest has stood the test of time and it is obvious that it is a great product as there has been very few changes over the years. "Don't fix what aint broke" The vest is super versatile- I wear mine around the house, working in the yard, on hikes,... just about everywhere! Patagonia just makes a great product - the only thing I would say, is that I did order a size up so that I could get the vest to fit as I would like - a bit loose.

Super warm and cozy! I am 5' 4'' and 125 lbs and the small fits well with a little room so I can still fit a sweatshirt underneath. Probably would have sized down to an XS for a more fitted look. Love the small interior pocket.

Bought this jacket on a whim and it was a GREAT decision. This is a perfect vest for putting over anything. Even sweaters! I bought the black so it matches everything and it's really comfy. Recommend!
