From summer climbing in the alpine to winter ski sessions in the backcountry, you may end up taking the Patagonia Men's Down Sweater Vest wherever you roam. Just stow the vest inside its chest pocket before you pack it up, but be sure to let it out regularly so its plush 800-fill Traceable Down insulation retains its loft and efficient insulating properties over time. Patagonia's Traceable Down comes from geese that were never live plucked or force fed.

To enhance its green status, Patagonia made the shell out of a recycled polyester ripstop that's light, windproof, and water-resistant thanks to a DWR finish. Patagonia updated the Down Sweater with a more contoured fit that's longer for better coverage on cold camping trips, and the hem cuffs help retain the down's wonderful warmth. Patagonia also added two zippered handwarmer pockets and a zippered internal chest pocket that doubles as a stow pocket when it's time to pack it up and hit the trail or skintrack.

I’m not typically a big Patagonia fan. They’re usually somewhat baggy for my taste. This fits well- almost like Arcteryx. Surprised at amount of down inside.- it’s quite warm. So if saving a couple ounces is important to you, go for the Arcteryx SL. Otherwise, this is a great choice and less expensive! I highly recommend.

I've been buying Patagonia gear for at least 20 years (always the same size) but I think I'm about done with them. This vest is cut small and grossly under-filled with down -- the vest is nearly flat. No doubt city folks prefer a tight, sleek look; tight and sleek doesn't work for me and it's not the way Patagonia gear used to be.

I ordered an XL and feel this could be slightly taller and less form fitting. I imagine it will make a good first layer above your street clothes and under a heavier jacket. Otherwise it's a good piece of gear. Only complaint is that there should be XL-Tall sizes, and the neck should be cross sewn (down compartments) to avoid down gathering towards the ends of the collar. I've had similar down jackets where the necks are sewn horizontally, causing the down to clump at the edges over time.

Love the look and the color of this vest. I started by purchasing the large size thinking it would be better to be a little on the loose side than too tight, The first vest arrived and the large size turned out to be what in any other brand would be extra large. I returned the large, this time for a medium. Just received the new vest and the medium is much more like a small in any other brand. I should have stayed with North Face or some other brand I've purchased before, No more Patagonia for me.

This vest is great! Wear it as a mid-layer in the winter. During the spring or fall it works great on those cooler mornings, and packs down small enough to fit into my bag. Would recommend this vest to any active user or commuter.

My first Patagonia purchase. Had high expectations which were not disappointed. Large fits great (6’ 195# 44/34). It’s been doing a good job of keeping me warm on brisk days. Not too bulky, can layer if need to. Water repellent in a couple of light rains. Warm in a couple of 30* snows.

These things are pretty simple, and that's why they're so great. Three pockets, true-to-size fit, and well built as you'd expect from Patagonia. These are VERY warm. When it gets cold, you'll be glad you've got one.

Thanks for the Patagonia down vest would be fit compatible with the Patagonia men's down sweater. Wrong! The cut and fit was completely different. Wella medium fit me well in the men's down sweater the medium vest was way too small. Suggestion to Patagonia: align fit across products and from season to season.

Was in between the medium and large but found the Patagonia to be one of the only vests that didn't make me feel like a marshmallow man. It is extremely comfortable, lightweight and warm.

I got for a gift and he loved it. Added some nice extra warmth for a cold hike and he said that he really liked the fit other than that it's a little long. But, overall, exactly what he was looking for.

Seemingly solid construction, nice zippers and pockets, and yellow color was great... exact shade I was looking for. Had heard that the warmth on these was outstanding. And then I put it on. Worst fit of all time. I am 6'0", 190 lbs, 32" waist and 40-42 in a sport coat (for sake of comparison). Put on the large and it looked as though the shoulders were made for an average-sized 6th grader and the torso/waist were designed for somebody that wears a 46" waist pantsize. Ridiculous. Looked horrible. Tried XL and it was horrible as well... shoulders still did not fit and waist could have been suitable for Santa Claus and his belly (like a bowl full of jelly). For $170, this is extremely confusing. I expect a horrible fit like that for something that costs $20. Did somebody purchase the brand and tank the design? Or is the average Patagonia customer shaped like a pear? Disappointed and in process of returning product.

I bought this for my boyfriend and he is excited to put it to use this winter! It is lightweight, warm, and comfortable. It seems easy to be layered with also.
