Patagonia knew you were looking for a pair of shorts you could wear before, during, and after trail riding without having to bring a change of clothes, so they went and created the Men's Dirt Craft Bike Shorts.

Built with a two-layer design, the shell is cut slimmer than your standard mountain baggies, made with a stretchy blend and finished with a water-repellent DWR coating for comfort and protection. The adjustable hook-and-loop waistband, articulated knees, and versatile 11.5in inseam all serve to better adapt to off-the-bike activities. When you're on the bike, the outer layer pairs with a stretchy, moisture-wicking inner liner, complete with a cushy three-layer chamois and mesh paneling to keep you comfortable during long days on the trails.

These shorts have proven great on the trails, and they look good. Although the sizing on the shorts was perfect, the liner was very tight and took some getting used to. I would prefer if there was a bit more room in the liner, but it was not enough of an issue for me to send it back.

These shorts and liners are hands-down, best on the market! I'm on my second season now and they're still my go-to's. I'd definitely size up though, as they do run a bit tight, especially if you have an "athletic build + beers". I'm 6'2" 210lbs and the 36 set is spot on. I ripped the pocket off last year and Patagonia repaired them for free, so that's cool. Spend the extra bucks and consider this a long term investment. Also an excellent option if you're not into the long-baggy-90's-skater-and-or-cholo-vibe. Dads wearing jorts, you know who you are...I think those are the same people that wear pants to the gym. Just sayin'.

These biking shorts are slim and comfortable biking shorts. All the reviews worried me regarding the sizing of the shorts (reviewed as being true to size) vs the chamois (generally reviewed as being way too small). In my experience, both are great fitting and work well while pedaling on the trail. I tried on the Patagonia 2020 styles of this short at REI and those sizes were way too small. These 2019 styles are right on. Highly recommend these shorts. FYI - I'm 5'10" and 160 pounds and generally where a size 32 shorts. The size 32s are spot on.

The outer short is excellent. Well made, comfortable and the tightening system is money. The liner though is so tight it feels like a vice grip on my crotch. Patagonia blew it on the sizing. The short is spot on but the liner chamois is clearly not a medium, more like a small. I had to stop wearing the chamois, especially during the summer, as it was so hot and tight.

Great shorts. Liner is a bit bulky feeling to walk around in, but works wonders on the trail for add a little cush to your tush. Material is sturdy and lightweight, and does not bind or ride up.

I agree with the earlier review that the liner leaves something to be desired. The shorts themselves are comfortable and high quality, but I just use other liners with them after having them rub me the wrong way on a couple of rides. Pretty high price for just the shorts.

I am 5 11 and 190 lbs with tree trunk legs. I got a size 34. They are a bit snug in the thighs but the waist is spot on. I love the stretchy fabric and the pockets are great. When im riding I dont notice them rubbing or making strange noises. I recommend these shorts for any activity, not just biking!

Stretchy, water resistant enough, and comfortable overall, these mountain bike shorts are a good all-around pair. Recommended.

These are my husband's go to mountain biking shorts. They move super well, and breathe. And they look great too!

I really like the short. If you live in a hot climate, forget about using the liner because it will leave you chafed. I see that patagonia came out with another short that doesn't come with a liner but now they sell just a liner. My guess is that it is probably a better quality.

5'9" / 195 and the 34" fit well and true to size. The inner line / chamois pad and very comfortable and mesh panels breathe well and the short itself is very light weight. When riding it doesn't get caught up on knee and overall you barely notice it is there. My other favorite short was a Fox Attack (also light weight), but now think these will be my go to's.

I bought these as a gift and have received great feedback! My friend said that they fit super well, were not too bulky, and looked great! He is an avid mountain biker, rides 3-5 times a week and is really excited to have these shorts .

Used to just ride in roadbike bibs and board shorts. These are worth the money. Just feels better on the bike (XC, enduro). Tries and tested here in NorCal spring and summer so far.

I got the first version of these last season. Loved the shorts for their simplicity, but the chamois didn't fit very well so I ended up just using my other chamois with the shorts. I hear they got a fit update on the outer and liner shorts this season, and tore mine up a bit crashing on the DH bike last year, so I was stoked to get a pair of these new ones. I definitely agree with the rumors of improved fit. Most notable, the waist band got more micro-adjustments to get that perfect, and the chamois has more rise in the rear.

I was riding in other brand liners and prana mojo shorts (great shorts, not knocking them) before switching to this pair. Woah what a difference it has made. The fit on the shorts is spot on, with a little stretch in the material to move with you while pedaling so they never slide down. The liners are super breathable and have a generous chamois to keep you on your saddle longer. 10/10 would recommend.

Of course, it takes Patagonia getting into the game to get some really stellar mountain bike shorts that fit and perform the way they ought to. I have a pair of the first generation Dirt Craft shorts without the liner; they are top-notch, but the addition of a (really nice) chamois takes this new version up a level and makes the admittedly premium price well worth it. The fit is great—dialed for good coverage and motion without looking wide or baggy, with details like a slanted cut that covers your knees while leaving the back free of extra fabric. The side zip pocket is generous and the hook-and-ladder waist is much better than Velcro in terms of finding and keeping your fit. The only complaints I have are that the hand pockets are a little shallow and I wish the waist adjustment didn't have any elastic, because elastic eventually does wear out and these look like they could last forever otherwise. I guess I'd also ask for an identical zip pocket on the other side if you really wanted to make them perfect. But these are truly awesome shorts and I recommend them without reservation.

I got these for my boyfriend recently, and he loves them! They fit well, seem durable, and are easy to move in. The included chamois is pretty big, but it's comfortable.
