I really like having the metal ring around there oar, compared to using a standard cam strap. The ring slides much smoother and you don't even notice they are there. Nice to have in case you pop an oar.

While this can be achieved with a pair of cam straps or some p chord, it's nice to have a dedicated set up so you don't have to go digging through your sack of straps. The ring makes for easy slide so you don't notice once its on unless an oar pops. Certainly a good investment if you want to keep your oars.
