This setup is nice and compact. Boils water really fast. It is so efficient at boiling water I usually have to let it cool some before using because I let it boil too long. The lid works great at pouring water into another container or used as a strainer when cooking something like noodles. So far I love it.

I've used the MSR WindBurner stove for all of my backpacking trips this year, and I have to say that it's been great and never let me down. I've used it primarily for what people use these stoves for, boiling water for my Mountain House freeze dried food. It definitely does that very well, no shocker there. Now let's talk about the elephant in the room, Jetboil. Will it boil water quickly as a Jetboil stove? No, but is there a race to boil water? Will it boil water as efficiently as a Jetboil stove? No, and that matters, but it's not off by a lot. Will it boil water in conditions that a Jetboil can't? Yes, and that peace of mind to me matters. But not enough on its own go out and buy this over a Jetboil. What puts it over the top for me is how well thought out the packaging for this thing is. You can get a lot in a very small container, but also the accessories you can buy for it are also well thought out and actually store well with the stove. My father, who backpacks with me, DEMANDED the coffee press that goes with the WindBurner stove. Making fresh coffee in the morning is great, but also the fact that MSR thought about how to actually store the press with the stove and pot as well shows extra attention to detail and just how well they thought out this stove system. I really can't complain about it at all. Some information for people looking to buy this, the pot is not machine washable. MSR doesn't mention this anywhere on their product page, and it took me a while to find it on their site, but you should wash this by hand. Also, don't use the 16oz MSR IsoPro Fuel, like I am in the picture. MSR says not to do this for stability reasons, and while I was able to use it with a 16oz canister, I have to agree that you should stick to 8oz or smaller. I'm extremely satisfied with my MSR WindBurner. It always gets the job done, regardless of conditions, and it's very well designed. I really like the accessories that can go with it, and I really think it is the best stove out there.

Bought one of these on sale. Kept it new in the package for several months and never used it. Finally had the chance to take it out, and it burned for just a couple of minutes, then went out and would NOT relight. Reset the "thermal trip" but still didn't work. Customer service only offered to repair it, which is a flat $25 fee. It was BRAND NEW and failed immediately. Why should I pay anything? But that's all the company offered me. Too bad I held onto it for so many months or I could have returned it. I understand things happen and its not a perfect world, but to only offer to repair a brand new product for $25 bucks is not good enough.

I use it relatively recently, but during this time I felt the advantages and disadvantages. pluses: - compact - wind protection that allows you to burn in any wind and weather conditions - the speed of boiling water up to 3 minutes minuses: - it is difficult to adjust a moderate flame. You can cook food in food pockets or cook on very low burning - no piezo, but you get used to it - prolonged use, if water spills and gets on the kettle it leaves stains that are difficult to clean

I have bought this wonderful stove about one year ago. Very often I have traveled to mountains and use MSR in different weather, in cold and very windy places in Chile and Nepal. This stove is absolutely economy and comfortable in using. In case of the stove is overheats the sensor is triggered and the burning will be stopped. After that you can turn back switcher using holder for gas canister and keep going cooking. But also I can say that is a little uncomfortable cooking some food without pockets, the food can burn, but if you will use food in plastic pockets you can forget about it.

This stove comes with such convenience, I love it! I also have the MSR Pocket Rocket to actually able to cook things on, but sometimes I need boiling water for the recipe and this WindBurner has saved so much fuel it's so awesome. Then I totally forgot to bring something to eat the food in and the WindBurner saved me once again! Comes with a lid to drink and a cover for the internals that also works as a little cup/bowl. I am much impressed. All contained in this 8"x4" little tube. Way to go MSR!

Wasn't sure if i wanted to spend the extra money to get a wind proof stove, glad I did. Our last trip, we had lunch on the side of a cliff, pretty gusty winds, but this guy did not let me down.

I cooked 3 meals on this stove the first weekend I used it and it worked perfectly! It was very windy one of the nights while I was using the stove, and it didnt phase it one bit, and the heat was consistent and super easy to adjust. It really felt like I was cooking on my stove at home. Overall it was surprisingly packable, super convenient, and worked like a charm.

This should be the only backpacking stove you have. It is ultra-light, packs down small, is very fuel efficient, and boils water nearly instantly. Seriously, this stove rocks. Winter, summer, wind, rain, this stove cooks with maximum efficiency. I really don't feel like I need to say much else. It rocks.

haven't heard anything bad about this stove, can't wait to see the difference between this and the jetboil.

After melting a competitors stove, I switched to the Windburner and haven't looked back. I took this as our main cook stove in Peru. Fast, efficient, Durable, The additional works solid and has a good balance on the stove.

Easy to pack down and put up, this stove is great for your next camping adventure! MSR deserves the name recognition they have.

I had always been a great fan of MSR and this just adds to the list. I have been to some high altitudes and the last thing I want to worry about is not being able to set up a stove, this solves those stresses. Boils up water extremely fast and works well in a pinch! Being able to be so compact, I usually leave this last to put into my pack to make sure it's the first thing I can pull out. I am worried about the insulated cozy as it doesn't seem flame retardant, but no fires yet and has been doing just fine.

I've had this stove for about four years. Without it, I would not be drinking tea on mountain tops. :)

I currently have only used this as a compliment to my raft camping kit. Just using it for making coffee, but can't wait to cook up some dehydrated meals on some solo camping trips. Easy to set up, break down, and pack.

I Love this Stove. It boils 2 cups of water in the time it takes me to get my food out and opened. Cooked three meals a day for three people for two days on a half full can of fuel, and still had more than a quarter can left after the trip.

I have owned a jet-boil for years and the biggest downside is the wind factor of your flame being extinguished or compromised and waste all your gas. Well the WindBurner has totally fixed this issue, with a heating element instead of an open flame you are getting a consistent burn and is the most efficient system out there. Plus, they have a skillet you can pick up that is designed to work with this system. Never waste gas on an open flame again! Highly Recommended!

This stove is simply a must. It's easy to use and super effective even in the worst conditions. There's no muss or fuss—my water boils and pours easy! I actually can't believe I waited as long as I did to get it.

Boiling water and making coffee is pretty important for me anywhere I go. This stove makes my life much easier all around. I am very happy with it!

I have used this stove on several different trips, walking with the kids making winter hot chocolate on the trail, backpacking for a few days and a kayak/camping adventure and it has worked perfectly. It boils water in no time at all, very efficient indeed. I gave it 4 stars as the sleeve was a bit finicky and the plastic lid and container don't seem to fit securely, They haven't come off unexpectedly but I just don't get a reassuring snap as the lid goes on. In my case I think the heat over time has misshaped the lid a little and maybe that's why it doesn't snap on. Their is no igniter so you need to bring something to light the stove with. I did buy the MSR piezoelectric igniter but it won't light the stove, don't waste your money on it. A built in igniter would be a good addition. Although these are minor issues and I am more than happy with this stove.
