Great for those deeper days. Easy to add and remove and definitely help. Good idea to have them and not need than don't have a need. Make your adventure easier and get these just in case.

They add some good float for sure. Easy to pop on and remove on the trail. No tools required, just a tight snap and you're ready to go. Cool design.

Although I am well below the weight rating for the snowshoes I own, I decided to try these and see if they made a difference when breaking trail. They help more than I would have thought. Breaking trail in new snows of 12 to 16 inches, I would sink in 6 to 8 inches without the tails. With the tails, I sink about 2 to 4 inches. It takes much less energy with the tails. I recently was breaking trail in 35 inches of very light powder and sank about 14 inches. However, after that snow had a couple of days to consolidate, I was only sinking in 8 inches when breaking trail. One can put these on on the trail but it is much easier to attach them beforehand. I use snowshoes to hike a lot and am very glad to have the tails.

I knew the 25" lightning shoes were going to be best for me, but I did want the option of lengthening them when the powder gets deep or the load gets heavy. MSRs lightning snowshoes are all made more versatile by the tail option. Easy to afix and a big difference maker, these tails can mitigate the harshest conditions.
