MSR Dromedary Bags for Sale, Reviews, Deals and Guides

Purchased for a backpacking archery hunt. Worked extremely well. I like the fact it is a little tougher than those without the extra covering. Had no issues with leaking or valves as some others have mentioned. Two more of my hunting friends have the same bag and no complaints from anyone. A solid product.

These things are amazing and I take it with me every time I go camping to carry water. I have the 4 liter which works fantastic; being easy to carry and storing way more water than one would expect. My favorite feature are the three different nozzles you have with the cap, and they each work for different tasks around the camp. These bags are also burly and packable, able to be thrown around the camp and fit into a very small shape when empty. I highly recommend these to any one looking for an innovative water container.

The dromedary has been the most reliable way to transport water that I've had in my hiking/skiing/biking career. The composite material is super durable, has never molded (unlike options from Dakine and Camelbak), and can be used with the standard mouthpiece or with an extended hose. If you want to carry lots of water into the backcountry without worrying about your system, the dromedary may be for you. The 4L is perfect for most single day adventures when no water refill is available throughout the day. For longer trips, the 6L may be better, unless you carry a water purification system.

I picked up the 4 liter drom for backpacking. Great way to cache extra water for later. I pair mine with MSR's miniworks water filter. The filter screws right onto the opening and makes for super easy filtering. The burly 1000D fabric is extremely durable and will take a beating. I fill mine after we've made camp for the night while backpacking and have plenty of water for washing hands, making dinner/breakfast, and to top off our reservoirs the next day. The 3 in 1 cap allows you to control your water flow preventing unnecessary waste of your most precious resource. When it's empty, It collapses down really small and makes for super easy packing until you need it again. You can also get the hydration kit to turn your drom into a reservoir if you'd like even more diverse functionality.

These are what my outdoor education program at Colorado mountain college uses for water systems in the field. They are bomber and won’t leak easily like a platypus system. The only issue is that when they come brand new, the inside is coated with a nasty chemical. I took mine into the feild and had to drink and cook with horrible tasting chemical water for 5 days. Make sure to rinse out a new drom 10 or 12 times before actually using it.

Took this on a 4-day sea kayaking trip on the west coast of Sweden and It. Was. Perfect. When I got it I filled it with luke warm water and let it sit for 48 hours and then emptied it. I haven't had any issues with bad-tasting water. Plus, it's indestructible. Seriously great quality product.

This water bag looks nigh-bulletproof. No complaints on quality of materials or durability (just my impressions, haven't gotten to use it for water yet). Problem is that I've poured about 6-7 gallons of water in and out of this bladder and let it sit a day each time to simulate what it would do to the taste of the water. Yuck! Water comes out with a strong chemical/gaseous taste. I've used hydrapak water bladders that lent a subtle plastic taste to water but I didn't mind those at all. This MSR dromedary however, taints the water with such a strong chemical taste that I am not entirely convinced it's safe to drink the water stored in it.

Used it to haul water back to camp. Carries 4L and folds down to nothing. Used it on the Grand Canyon R2R2R

Definitely seems more durable than collapsible water bottles I've seen out there and you can get a 10L size. It packs down fairly well when empty, but the material is thick. The small nozzle you can flip up can also be accidentally flipped open if it catches on anything.

Purchased for use in paddling the Broken Group Islands off Vancouver coast, no fresh water, nice because the flat profile and bullet proof material made it easy to pack supplies on top of. Another way we use it when we paddle fresh water, is to pack it empty and then at camp fill with filtered water and have a coupled days in storeage without the need to filter water for every meal...

If you're looking to have some portable water without being confined to a jerry can for your car camping or packing trips this is an excellent option. I personally wouldn't want to carry 6L of water but, that is an option too. With the MSR dromedary really anything is a possibility as long as you need portable water. This is an extremely robust vessel that can take a beating and because it malleable it can fit any where, especially in a confined car if you're going on a camping trip.

I run an outdoor club at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. We get tired of going back and forth to the creek just to fill up on water bottle so I decided to invest in this heavy duty, ultra tough, water carrier/holder. BEST DECISION EVER! This thing is tough as nails and makes my life sooo much easier!

The Dromedary bags are amazing! They are super durable and hold plenty of water. I opted for the 10 L bag which holds plenty for a weekend trip. The outside material is super durable and pretty much can withstand anything.

These bags are a must have, for me. I love the durability, and compactability. I recommend the hose attachment for some added versatility .

First impression wasn't great, it had a leaking issue at the cap right out of the box. I hit up MSR and they were quick to get me a replacement, no questions asked. After that.. this bag has killed it! Super durable, No issues at all and haven't worried about it once. I will say if you buy the hose attachment, be aware that it will be kind of bulky and not the best way they could have designed the attachment. The MSR is well built and allows you to bring more water with taking up less space. Great tool for backpacking!

I owned an MSR dromedary previously, and was devastated when it got destroyed by a careless tractor driver. I've used it on the fire line, guiding through summer and winter conditions, and through the bush of NZ. This is a resilient bag that gives me the capacity to make long hauls during dry or humid spells. My only beef would be that the string that attaches the smaller cap to the larger one gets in the way as I'm trying to screw/unscrew it. I'll be cutting it off before its next use.

Strapped it to the back of a back pack for easy trail access. Very durable. I'm glad I didn't get a clear plastic bag like the Platapus bag.

It is pretty much indestructible but its dark color may be better suited for a sun shower. The small nozzle is a bit to small and the medium one is hard to control without loosing water.
