They are very durable and stretchy. Could be more breathable, but I've never overheated. I have a size 28 waist and the medium size works great. I wish the buckle wasn't plastic though.

I have an old pair of gramicci shorts that have gotten so worn out that I can't really wear them in public anymore, but I still wear them around the house and refuse to get rid of them. These shorts are the best replacement for those that I have found: Fit - I bought both Medium and Large because I guess I am in between sizes (33-34 waist). The webbing for the adjustable waist is not long enough to synch the larges down enough for a hike and the mediums were overall too constricting. I am okay with the larges as long as they are pulled pretty tight. I like the 9 in inseam, but that is a personal preference thing. Functionality - these seem very durable and have a little stretch to them so you can reach footholds or rest comfortably. The pockets sit pretty high on the pants, which I like because when you are wearing a t-shirt, you cant even see them and it looks pretty clean, but I could see this as an issue for some. Comfort - Second to none. Fabric is soft and stretchy. I could easily sleep in these shorts, go on a hike, or do some bouldering. for me that overcomes all of the previously mentioned shortcomings. Look - I like the colors and with a t-shirt hanging over, you can't see any of the pockets, which makes them look pretty clean.

Received older versions of the shorts. Not as wide as I’d like but they’re ok. They do not offer the inseam option. You end up with the 7in inseam.
