If you are in the market for an aerodynamic, dependable wheelset, check out the all-new Mercury Wheels A5C. With wind-cheating technology, the wheels offer near aero performances of the more expensive models, but at a much more attractive price point.

Thanks to its patented Kamm Tail Technology 10 profile, the 54.5mm deep wheels offer a virtual depth of 67mm, allowing you to attack the bunch and ride off the front with greater confidence. The teardrop-shaped airfoil, designed by world-renowned bicycle aerodynamicist Paul Lew, uses a small section of its tail end removed, which helps reduce the low-pressure area behind the leading edge, thereby minimising turbulence and improving stability in crosswinds.

The A5C also boasts enhanced braking performance with special aerospace grade resins, which have some of the highest temperatures ratings available. To add to the durability and aerodynamics, Sapim CX-Ray bladed spokes have been used, as well as Mercurys Tempest straight pull hubs which have a 2:1 pattern that increases lateral stiffness and evenly balances spoke tensions.

Wherever you plan to ride crit, road race, triathlon or time trial the A5C Wheelset from Mercury Wheels will give you the advantages of aerodynamics and stability that you need for daily success.

These A5 wheels are the bomb. They accelerate, cruise, and climb hills amazingly. Very pleased with my purchase.

If you are hesitant to click the buy button, trust that you will not be disappointed. If you have a choice, I would recommend going with disc over rim brake. If you do not have a choice, then you should note these rims are crazy wide. I had to release cable on my Ultegra brakes quite a bit to get them to fit and only then did they barely clear the pads. Therefore, they are a bit of work to get them to fit a rim brake enabled bike. This would all be unnecessary with discs. Regardless, once I installed the wheels, I was amazed at how fast and light they felt. I first realized this when I lifted up the bike. The difference was staggering compared the stock aluminum rims. On my first ride there was no drama and the wheels were noticeably super stiff and fast. When I hammered on them, I was able to beat a Strava KOM of mine by 29 seconds...seriously. These wheels are quick! Worried about cross winds? That has not been a major issue thus far. You feel them, but it is a predictable kind of feel. I never felt out of control. In short, you will not be disappointed, just make some time to widen your brakes. Additionally, the freewheel is crazy loud but smooth. Finally, my set had a bit of material within the rim that made noise while spinning on the work stand, but seems to have gone away. A little quality check on those may have prevented that. Overall, I am very pleased with the wheels. They look sharp on the bike and I love the subtle labeling on the style purchased from Competitive Cyclist.

Have used this wheels for more than 8 months with over 2000 miles and love them. They’re very fast, stiff, light and high quality, not easy to find at this price! Also they look great with the stealth decals.

I waited 10 months to write this review to see how the A5 wheels perform. Having over 3300 miles, I can say that I love these wheels. Excellent hand built in the USA. The hubs are awesome and very smooth with good engagement. Tubeless setup was easy. Well done Mercury.

These wheels are a huge upgrade from my Hed Jet wheelset. Going on 7 months so far and everything is good. Love the Kamm Tail design. Light and strong with super smooth hubs. Running Michelin 25c tires on them and they feel good. Highly recommend.

Kamm tail on a road wheel! I have been waiting for this to happen for a few years. I noticed Trek and Canyon jumping on it with their frames, but not wheels........ and yes I am an engineer.

Read a review on the A5's and liked the idea of the kamm tail. I read up on the kamm tail and immediately started noticing almost all the sports cars have this design. Back to bikes... I threw them on my road bike to test out and noticed they roll nicely with the hubs having a cool pewter grey anodized finish. The wheels were stiff when I pressed on the pedals or took a corner at speed. I had a TT a few weeks ago where I won the Cat 2 category, but also bested my previous best avg. speed by 1mph over 40K.
