The Kokatat Gore-Tex Icon Drysuit should be the first thing you reach for when you're finally packing for your Alaskan kayak/hike escapade. Sixmile Creek drops over 50 feet per mile as it races out of the Chugach Mountains, hammers through three different canyons, has rapids named "Suckhole" and "Jaws," and is nothing but frigid and fresh Alaskan run-off. While the water might be colder than the Yeti's tush, you'll be toasty and dry in this supple and seemingly bomb-proof drysuit.
Evolution nylon is just a front for the 3-layer Gore-Tex Pro laminate that keeps you dry, both from the creek water and the anxiety-induced sweat as you hear the roar of the next set of rapids long before you see them. Latex neck and wrist gaskets create watertight seals, and you can trim the neck gasket for a comfortably custom fit. Neoprene neck and wrist over-cuffs ensure water stays away so long as you limit your trimming to the latex (neck) gasket only.
Should you end up in the drink and need to crawl out of the creek, Cordura Gore-Tex on the legs, shoulders, and arms keeps you from wrecking your drysuit, while integrated Gore-Tex socks protect all your little piggies from becoming wet toe-sicles. The dual-adjustable overskirt has hook-and-loop compatible neoprene to work with your spray skirt so water stays out of the cockpit. The front relief zipper means you can see a man about a horse without stripping all the way down.
