The Herschel Supply Retreat Backpack is a simple, no-nonsense backpack with rucksack styling and a couple of tricks up its sleeve. Tough woven polyester fabric and a reinforced bottom ensure durability so you can rely on it day in and day out. Leather straps give it an old school feel, while magnetic closures on the straps provide easy access to your cargo. An internal laptop sleeve keeps your computer separate from the rest of your stuff, and an external sleeve pocket provides a place to stash small items.

Please can you tell me if the Herschel or Patagonia brands you have are made in germany? Thank you!

I've been using this bag in the beige color for about a month now. I went from using the typical Pop Quiz backpack to this. I wanted an upgrade in look and a bit more "mature" looking as well. It definitely accomplishes this.. HOWEVER, it is very very annoying that it is essentially just a huge bag with no pockets at all. It has the front pocket but I always feel scared that I can get pickpocketed with that pocket so I rarely use it. It is hard to have to find all things with simply the way the bag works, and it needing to get buttoned down and like the whole strap thing is also annoying and takes time. I love the look, but beyond that I really dislike this bag. I wish it were more practical with more pockets (and ZIPPERS!) but looked similar. Then, it'd be perfect.

I got the Jungle Green of this bag and I love the look of it! The straps are very padded and it's comfortable to use. I would say the only negative thing about this bag is that it doesn't have many pockets. It has the section for the laptop which is very soft and a little pocket for a cell phone inside. It does have the outside pocket but I don't feel safe putting much in that. With that said though it's very big and holds a great deal of stuff which I really like. And it seems well made and I figure it should hold up pretty well for a long time. If it had more pockets it would have gotten 5 stars, that's it's only downfall.

Great for every day. It has quite a bit of room. Fits my laptop perfectly. Well constructed and durable. Love the look of it.
