The Haglöfs Men's Rugged Mountain Pant lives up to its name with a technical design that promotes freedom of movement while still protecting against the weather and rocks you'd expect to encounter on alpine mountaineering missions. Climatic fabric is highly durable, stretchy, and water-resistant, and the seat and knees boast stretchier FlexAble softshell panels with highly waterproof, breathable protection found in Haglöfs ski apparel. Also like ski pants, the thigh zippers amplify airflow on the ascent. There are hooks that attach to gaiters for complete coverage.

Received these pants and they looked so awesome. I wanted to make them fit so much, but they were slightly tight in the waist. This is before being able to make any adjustment to the waist strap. I was hoping they would come in slightly wider and be able to make fine adjustment for my waist size but that was not the case. I had bought the Large 36.6 and was surprised they didn't fit. Am I getting fat in my old age? Anyone who fits these pants well is the lucky person since these pants look they would be so awesome. I returned then and as always Back Country took good care of me.

got this for my boyfriend and it was almost perfect- seems to run kind of small on the waist. I had ordered the M for him but it was tight on the waist but perfect for length so we returned it to get a L (still waiting for shipment). However, the pants are great in terms of having waist tightened straps and straps at the bottom of pants to tighten and lots of pockets. Heavy material that seems like its more for winter hiking or mountaineering. Will be testing this once received in Seattle area!

These pants has become my best friend in the outdoors. This are my second pair of Rugged Mountain Pant over a 10 year period. I have been so impressed by the durability and the way they feel on the trail. Each leg has a ventilation zip that has been very useful for the warm days. Over the knees and the back its water proof. What more can you ask for?

Exceptionally well made, highest quality. Heavy duty but on the warm side. So think winter activities in cold temps... You would not want to wear these summer hiking for example as the materials are thick and warm. One other note- they do not have a zipper at the ankle, so no room for ski boots as they are somewhat narrow at the ankle cuff. They fit over tall hiking boots well. Having said having said that, they are excellent for any cold weather activities like hiking, ice climbing, X-country skiing (low boots), etc. I guess if you wore gaiters, you could use them with BC ski boots (but test to see if your gaiters will fit over you ski boots to be sure). But then, you'd be wearing gaiters over your ski boots. Bottom line, these are some of the best pants ever on par with any top brand in the world. If they made an equivalent summer weight pant, I'd own a couple pairs of those too.
