Sit down and listen up kiddies because the Five Ten Grandstone Climbing Shoe has some trad glory stories to tell. Don't let its demeanor of age and wisdom fool you; the Gladstone brings the modern edge with an uber-sticky Stealth C4 rubber outsole and a supportive midsole, which conspire to make it the stiffest shoe in Five Ten's line. Comfortable right out of the box and fits well. Performs excellent on almost all outdoor crags. I normally use quantum’s and used the same size for these. These are now my new outdoor shoe for trad and top rope.

Looooove these shoes. Basically the 5.10 equivalent to TC pros. Ankle support is wonderful. Great trad shoe. Me and my climbing partner have them

I bought these solely for long days in the alpine & crack climbing. I have only used them a handful of times, but so far I absolutely love them. I wear a size 10-10.5 street shoe and the size 10 works great- definitely snug but has broken in nicely. The sole is pretty stiff, so they are super comfortable to crack climb in. Due to the stickiness of the rubber, these also perform well on slab; although any really challenging slab climbs definitely need a softer sole. I would hands down recommend this shoe for anyone that spends a lot of time climbing outside. Also, it's pretty cool having different shoes when you, your buddy, his gf, her cousin, and pretty much everybody else are wearing TC pros. I think I am sold on 5.10 climbing shoes.

GRANDstone. Very stoked on the update to a legacy model from 5.10. I've been climbing in a myriad of stiffer trad climbing shoes for years and have never really found a pair that has felt perfect for the type of climbing i most enjoy. Alas, the grandstone. Impressions after roughly 30 pitches on mostly granite and sandstone- 1. They are quite comfortable. The toebox is mindful for all day trad climbing, but not loose or baggy. They actually feel quite precise in the toe box and the rubber on the upper keeps things tidy both from a structural standpoint as well as a feel in cracks. They aren't as flat in the toebox as a slipper, but they perform super well in both straight in cracks as well as pin scar pods/flares etc. 2. They are stiff but not overly damp/dead feeling. They edge on a dime but can also smear, or be precise on small footholds. The profile of the shoe is actually a bit down turned - fresh out the box. But they fit pretty flat. It sort of feels a little like camber in a ski and gives some feedback when pressing into the shoe. I'm sure it will wear out, but so far so good. 3. The lacing system is great! when i first got them - I am usually a 9.5 (9.35 really) and downsized to a 9 - I started with the laces not going through the last eyelet. I was able to break the shoes in with minimal discomfort, and now I can lace them all the way up and they are perfect. Great feel on slabs too.
