Some carabiner manufacturers obsess over light weight, but the resulting product is sized more for a toddler than a climber. The DMM Spectre 2 Carabiner is big enough for winter use but light enough for long trad climbs and difficult sport pitches. DMM's I-Beam construction keeps the weight down yet remains incredibly strong, and the wire gate further reduces weight and sticking. These biners are color coded to match your cams, so you don't grab the wrong piece when your handjam starts to slip.

I ordered 2 sets of these and received 2 sets of the DMM Spectre 2's, not the DMM Spectres (pictured above). While the Spectre 2's are superior to the Spectres, I wanted the Spectres. Hopefully, Backcountry.com will change the picture and title soon.

Really nice alternative to the BD rack pack. I find the gate action and size of the biner to be better than the neutrino (a good wire in its own right). Pairing the Spectre up with a BD Oz also makes for a functional, lightweight alpine draw.

i prefer these over the neutrinos because they're slightly larger and slightly lighter. but i agree with the other reviewer, they are not as cool as the notchless heliums. it would be nice if they had orange ones to match my metolius orange cams.

I use these on my cams.. I love the gate action and their shape takes clove hitches really well. When REI was sold out I went to the touble of calling their Seattle store to have them ship me some more! I Love these carrabiners! I'd give them five stars if they were knotchless..
