If your day just doesn't feel complete without the feel of some fresh dirt beneath your feet, even for just a few minutes, then the Danner Jag Low Hiking Shoe might be the perfect town-to-trail shoe to fit your always-adventuring lifestyle. Inspired by an original Danner design from the 1980's, this versatile shoe was built for style and performance both on the trail and around town. Thanks to its nylon and suede upper you'll have rugged protection when you're pounding out quick day hikes, and a look that's not out of place when you head back to the city. The waffle outsole adapts to a variety of surfaces, so whether you're exploring on sidewalks or single track it's got you covered with reliable traction. An Ortholite footbed and cushioned EVA midsole tack on comfort and support, giving you just another reason to make this the only shoe you own.

I would not buy these shoes again. The footbed is very weak and flimsy for a shoe at this cost, from a heritage maker, and proposed for use as a hiker. I would not hike any distance in these shoes without putting a new more supportive footbed in them. This would add another $15-$20 to the cost of the shoe. The other issue with the shoes is the noise. The upper materials make quite a bit of noise between the tongue and the other parts of the shoe. It sounds like synthetic materials rubbing against each other and is very loud at each step. I like the classic design and the colors are good, but the fundamental functions of the shoes are flawed. They fit slightly larger than normal but not enough to size down.
