I have the traditional straight leashes from Dakine and now getting two of these coiled leashes. Why? The crap that floats around in the lake gets caught in the straight leash as you drag it behind you. The coiled leashes stay up on the board and don't drag in the water. That is the only reason to get a coiled leash over the traditional leashes.
