I brought it for camping, and it was great! I've also used it just for everything too; grilling, biking when it gets dark, fixing my desktop.

BD has been engaging in disgusting profiteering behavior in recent years, especially with things like headlamps. They have been combing through manufacturers in China finding the ones that will produce these headlamps for the cheapest possible price. The result is poor quality, horrendous durability, and a final product that ends up being little more than garbage after 3 months. The casing will expand over time, causing the battery contact points to no longer make a solid connection with the batteries. I fixed this briefly by wrapping the headlamp with climbing tape to increase connection, but it only lasted a couple weeks. There is nothing worse than finding you are out of luck when you need some light. The even worse part is that BD wouldn't stand by their products when I contacted them. This happene to 2 separate BD headlamps, they said that warranties don't apply to headlamps and offered me a 40% off coupon to purchase another headlamp. They are probably still going to make a 60% profit because of their cheap manufacturing costs, and I would have still gotten a plastic pile of garbage. Do yourself a favor, get a different brand of headlamp.

great for camping and gives off plenty of light once you get use to the controls. Would recommend to anyone looking for a durable head lamp.

If you hope this headlamp is going to keep you out of darkness in the rain, you will be disappointed! I tested it by 1) put it in a salad bow filled with water for 30 seconds. 2) put it in a gentle stream from my kitchen faucet for 20 seconds. The result is the same: battery box filled with water. I bought 2 copies. Same thing. IPX8? What a joke. This headlamp can't even remotely pass a legit IPX4 test. In fact, I examined the headlamp and found that it is not a "defect" but a design issue. There is no seals around any of the seams. Every headlamp made using this design can not possibly be waterproof. Seems like good old false advertising by our beloved BD.

This compact, powerful headlamp was a great addition to my bag. The thick headband is comfortable and easily adjusted if needed. I did find the controls difficult to remember and if it has been awhile since my last use it takes a minute to remember what combination of button presses I need to do what I want. It's all find and good until I accidentally blast my girlfriend in the face with full power because I used the wrong sequence of button presses.

Great headlamp for general hiking or camping use. It's waterproof (more water resistant) and comes in a great compact size, I have two sets of these as it's plenty bright and does the job well. It's not as intuitive as other headlamps, but after reading the instructions, it's pretty straight forward.

Just got this and I really love how bright the light is and the different light options available. Also super easy to adjust the strap.

The settings are kind of a pain to get through at first. It is kind of fun watching friends struggle through it though.

My two big must haves were lockout button, so battery wouldn’t accidentally drain in backpack, and red light feature to not be obnoxious to companions. This headlamp has enough power to enable you to see to navigate in total darkness, has tiltable lamp feature and is relatively lightweight. No regrets!!

I chose the Spot model over the Storm because it uses less batteries and weighs less on the head. I am really happy with the product quality and the amount of light it produces. I feel like this headlamp will last years where other cheaper models will not last nearly as long.

I bought this for backpacking and night riding, and I’m definitely satisfied with the quality. While many headlamps weigh your head down, the BD spot is super lightweight, and very bright. It has been very battery efficient for long night hikes in the Wasatch, and the strap is really intuitive and easy to fit to your head. I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking for a solid reliable light source for any late night adventures.

This light has a lot of features but the controls are not intuitive. There's various taps and lengths of holds to cycle through settings. I made the mistake of not taking the instructions the first time I brought it out - it was a little frustrating attempting to figure it out. I also see the green egg/yellow center other reviews mention while indoors and it's pretty distracting. Overall, a decent light at the price point, but if I were buying again, I would pay a little extra and upgrade to something else.

I like all the new features--memory of last setting, lock switch mode, variable brightness adjustment, etc. One question mark. The spot beam has a yellow center circle. Seems to be fine outdoors but a little annoying when using the light indoors. I don't see this as a big problem, and I'll see how it goes with more use. I asked BD about it and they said it's cooler on the led and easier on the eyes.

This is a durable and dependable light. When you get used to the switch pattern it's easy to use. The new memory feature that remembers the last setting is a big improvement. One Issue is the spotlight has a yellow tinted circle of light in the middle. I called BD and they explained that this is intentional because it puts less strain on the eyes and keeps the light cooler than a full on white light. Outdoors this seems ok, but so far indoors it's too pronounced and annoying. I hope I'll get used to it--but that's why 4 stars instead of 5.

How did they capture the sun in such a tiny plastic box? Night time is now daytime at the click of a button. Caution: just make sure your friend uses proper etiquette when facing you to tell you something.

I've actually had this lamp before, it was gifted to me by a BD rep when I first started working at Backcountry.com. Unfortunately it suffered an attack from a pup and broke the bulb inside. Bought the green one as my replacement and it's just as great as I remembered. Extremely bright and super user friendly!
