It’s light, no nonsense, sleek, simple to use & a no brainer to start any rack. I back my Black Diamond ATC up with a VT Prusik & I’m good to go! Highly recommended!

I just started building out my climbing gear and as a beginner I love this thing. So easy to use, straight forward, and a classic. This is the model that was recommended to me in my climbing course I took in Oregon through the Chemeketans. Excited to put it to more use.

This ATC is just about as standard as it seems to come. Great for beginners to intermediate climbers. Easy and intuitive to use, just keep that break hand strong! The only down side for me is that there aren’t cleats which, not sure how much they do, but they make me feel better.

I've been using this religiously and it has kept me (and my friends) alive and well thus far. It's simple to use, doesn't catch, isn't heavy to wear on your harness if you're climbing, good for beginners, and is overall a great piece of atc.

This belay device is an essential to any climber of any skill level, it can do pretty much anything and it does it well, rappelling with this is really easy and belaying is great and even though using a gri-gri offers better peace of mind its still a great tool to belay with, my one complaint is if you're belaying or rappelling with a thick rope, I often times have a bit of trouble getting the rope threaded in. all in all, its an amazing tool and everyone should have one

I needed to replace an old ATC. I have tried a number of other devices but I wanted something simple and light for multi pitch climbs. This device is perfect. Also I find it very easy to rappel with. Buy it you will like it!!

Just getting into climbing, I didn't know what I was actually getting. When it came in, I was tripping out because there were no teeth! But further knowledge, it's the design that makes it without the teeth as other ATC's. Regardless, this product is fantastic. Light weight, great color, and get's the job down without anyone dying.

I love the simplicity of this design over others. Great for a couple of beginner climbers, especially when mainly indoors.

No one can go wrong with the ATC! Whether this is your only belay device or you have everything from here to a Grigri, this guy should be in your collection! I've cycled through these bad boys and I've never had a single issue because they're simple and straightforward - just as they should be!

Bought this when my boyfriend and I started rope climbing. Easy to use even for beginners, and highly functional, this is the best belay device for anyone not worried about extra bobbles distracting them from the pursuit of a long day of belaying.

I prefer this ATC to the more fancy ones for belaying. I think you can lower the climber with a bit more consistency, so he/she doesn't get a bouncy ride back to the ground. Other than that it works well, provides a lot of friction, and is easy to get ropes of all sizes into.

Been using this ATC for a year now and it works well. Feels solid, looks cool, and works as it should. Friction could be better, but if thats what you're after, just spend a few more bucks and get the ATC-XP. Would recommend to a friend.
