Strap BioLite's SolarPanel 5 Plus to your backpack before sunny hikes to charge your phone and camera at the campsite. This high-efficiency solar panel charges its battery at a stunning five watts per hour, and the battery holds up to eight watts. There's an indicator for how much battery you have left, and another that lets you know how well the solar panel is charging. The sundial and kickstand help you angle direct sunlight to the solar panel for the best possible charge. Its USB output accommodates any electronic with a USB cord, and a micro USB input lets you charge the battery at home before you leave.

This thing is so easy to use! I love the sundial feature so you can precisely see how spot you are (or not). The kick stand is adjustable too which makes it really easy to set up. I used this to charge my phone at night on a recent camping trip and it was such a great addition to my gear because I knew that I didn't have to worry about finding a charge elsewhere.

Recently had a chance to try this out during a camping trip and really loved it! Super easy to use with the sundial in the corner and kickstand on the back to ensure its in the best possible position. I just left it at camp to recharge during the day but corner latches would also make it easy to attach if you wanted to take it with you on a backpack for on the go charging as well. The on board battery is a great feature, no need to remember an extra battery and can get it charged up via USB before the trip or in the car on the way so its ready to go on the first use when you need it. It will only charge a phone once but if you have good sun you can just recharge it during the day. A bigger on board battery would have made it 5 stars.

Easy to travel with, an iphone drains it pretty fast, but I think it does a fantastic job. The sundial to optimize performance works exactly as advertised and I love the sturdy construction. The kickstand is nice as well. It feels perfect. It was super sunny where I was camping so charging it was easy. It also hung off my pack!! No problem packing it inside either. I charged my phone at night and recharged the panel during the day. Easy peasy.

I brought this on a winter camping/ski touring trip and found it to be a practical and low-fuss piece of technology. The built in battery pack is a great idea. Very nice not having to haul a separate battery pack as you do with most small panels. The battery is not very high capacity and the panel is low wattage, but it is plenty for small low-draw devices. I set this up each morning before leaving camp and on mostly sunny days I had plenty of juice to top off my phone and GPS when I got back in the evening. Design-wise this thing is also better than average. It has a nice rugged feel to it and stood up well to being stuffed in my pack. The sundial to position it at the optimal angle is a simple but brilliant touch that removes the guesswork of positioning the panel at different times of the day.

The SolarPanel 5+ is BioLite's best selling solar panel for a reason. It's onboard battery eliminates the need for an external power pack: if you don't have anything that needs a charge "now," just leave the SolarPanel 5+ ins the sun - it stores power so you can charge your gear later. The 2200 mAh battery is good for about 1 phone charge, and by using the Optimal Sun System, you'll know you're getting the most conversion of energy from the sun possible.
