The shoulder seasons can often provide a much-needed respite from the mundane. With changing weather, riding goals, and for some, even a change in cycling disciplines, a new quarter can often bring about challenges that might spark a flame of urgency, keeping us going, or it can bring the excitement of a new season. We always want to be prepared for rides and often these times of the year can make it difficult to decide what to wear in ever-changing conditions. We also don't want to bring our entire wardrobe with us and that's why we're excited about the MILLE GT Spring Fall LS Jersey from Assos. Designed for early morning starts or crisp, cool days and a pretty wide range of conditions, the brand from Switzerland once again supplies a bit of kit so suited for the conditions that after just one ride, the only regret you'll have is not getting one sooner.

As a jersey designed to excel in spring and fall conditions, the MILLE GT is chock-full of features allowing it to excel in varied temperatures. It's constructed from premium Assos fabrics offering insulation properties but is also fast drying and highly breathable when the pace or the temps rise. An RX frontal panel is a knit that stands up to chilly descents, yet is soft enough to move with the rider holding a layer of your own body heat close to ward off a chill. The innovative Type.157 Stripe Tex Stripe, on the rear and under the arms of the jersey, is a circular knit that's quick to dry and wicks away perspiration in areas of the body where its much needed, and on extended climbs. And at any point, if the buildup of heat is just too much, a slim-full-length zip lets you quickly dump heat and zip it back up, adjusting to the conditions. This tech-savvy jersey lets us leave the jacket at home while staying warm on chilly starts and it offers enough ventilation and breathability so you aren't forced to strip off layers, allowing you to stay comfortable when the clouds break or the fog lifts and the sun is out. The jersey features the Mille Regular Fit cut making it more relaxed than its all-out Racing Fit jerseys so it's highly suited for training rides where comfort trumps aerodynamics.

We're tempted to increase our ride time this time of year so we're glad that Assos employs its Triple Ramp concept rear pockets, positioning them perfectly for ease of access and preventing the dreaded droopy rear jersey. This concept places the seams internally so the pockets are barely noticeable until you fill them with much-needed ride calories or roadside repair material. The pockets receive reflective stripes for additional visibility in low light.

We're fairly certain this will be your go-to jersey, or its own, for several months of the year and you can always pair it with a base layer or a shell to extend its range. Available in 7 sizes ranging from X-Small to TIR and in the colors Nationlred, Blackseries, Caleumblue.

This is the first item from Assos that did not fit me well. I have a few other jersey and jackets from them in size M and they fit amazingly when in riding position (they will feel a bit tight in the chest when standing up). The Spring/Fall LS jersey was consistent in terms of arm, body, neck, but the fit under the armpits was really weird and very uncomfortable... it felt a bit like I was wearing a flying squirrel suit. Also... the front material was also a lot shinier than I expected... it's not a 'matte' finish.

Do not expect this to fit like other Mille jerseys. It runs smaller, fits tight under the arms and chest. If you don't put your arms in a certain way, they feel twisted. I bought the L originally, then tried the XL (too big, too long). I'm wondering if the technical specs on the Mille jerseys have changed. Both were returned.

I'm 5-08/170lbs with 40" chest. Ordered this jersey in a size large per sizing chart (and I have Assos bibs that run small, so I figured large was way to go). Jersey fits VERY tight across the chest to the point that it pulls open and does not conform to my chest when in riding position. i do not have an especially broad chest, but if you are not skinny in the upper body- go with something else i'd say. Returning this tomorrow.
