When sideways snow comes at you on chairlift rides, you'll stay warm and comfortable in the Arc'teryx Macai Jacket. Its waterproof, down-insulation is perfect for staying comfortable on cold weather days in bounds while seeking out the freshest snow. It's the first down-filled ski jacket from Arc'teryx and its warmth is enhanced by its Down Contour Construction and Down Composite Mapping technologies. 750-fill European goose down lines the core and sleeves where warmth is most needed, while slim Coreloft insulation, which retains warmth when wet, is placed along the hem, collar, sleeves, and underarms, because these are the areas prone to more constant contact with moisture. A three-layer Gore-Tex shell surrounds this smart insulation, featuring the proprietary, tightly-woven N40p-X face fabric that includes a DWR treatment to slough off snow and rainfall. This premium waterproof, windproof, breathable protection plays in tandem a WaterTight external zippers, fully taped low-bulk microseams, a high collar with the insulated DropHood, and adjustable cuffs and hem to seal out the elements.

Hi this was my experience. Bought the item in stock. 4 DAYS LATER I get its not in stock email, sorry. Same day the charge gets credited into my account! Now, I have to wait for a refund, for something that was not in stock- so let's see how long that takes? Never had this happen to me... who sells items not in their inventory? just plain unprofessional. Now I have to wait for refund AND work outside in the cold.

I have had this for two ski seasons now and it is my goto jacket. Well over 100 days on the slopes and never was cold even in sub zero and wind. Light flexible and warm. Over sized hood fits nicely over helmets. The wrist Velcro could be longer but that is minor. Pits zips and snow skirt are great. The price is high but backcountry had a good deal. If you can afford it you will never look back.

Just got this jacket April 2020, and it fits and feels like "Butter". Top quality all the way around, light weight, and feels warm with the down insulation. The Yukon color is spectacular and I matched it with the Mountain Hardwear Cloud Bank GTX Insulated Pants - Darkest Dawn (Dark Purple). Can't wait to ski in it next season. I am 5'9H, 179lbs, 31/32W, 42/43Chest and ordered a Medium. The fit is Snug to the body mostly due to the down liner inside but comfortable enough with body fitted mock and even a light weight vest for colder days. Most importantly the PRICE WAS RIGHT.

I purchased this at the end of the season to take advantage of it on sale, so will not get a chance to check it out until next season. By far the most expensive jacket I ever purchased. The plan is to have it for the next 20 years. The construction, feel and fit is perfect. I'm 5'7", 145 lbs, and got a small. Sleeves are long as others mentioned however I think that is intentional as it's meant for active wear (stretching....etc). The inside is fairly tight with a heavy sweater on, but not restrictive. Tight is good for insulating purposes. Let's hope for a cold winter next season!

If you're looking for a jacket that has it all, this is it. It is lightweight, considering that it is a 750 fill goose down jacket with a goretex shell sitting on top of it. I dont like layering up too much, so that is why this jacket works for me. The insulated hood & high collar are essential for the bitter cold days that require you to trap in the heat from your head and protect your face. It breaths quite well and the pit zips are crucial for when it wams up. I'm very satisfied with the pockets and how well they serve the tasks they were designed to complete. The removable powder skirt is a plus, I'm not a fan of having extra material around when it conditions don't call for it. The only issue that you will have with the jacket is the sizing. It fits tighter than what Arcteryx claims is a

Living in Seattle it rains for 8 months out of the year, traditional down jackets won’t work. Having all my rain jackets being Arc Teryx I started looking for a gortex down jacket that I could wear on cold wet days. I researched this jacket for 3 weeks before purchasing and couldn’t find any negative reviews or complaints. The only thing people said other than how great it is was how warm it is. Amazing, quality construction as you would expect from Arc Teryx. It’s expensive but quality jackets like this are an investment . I love this coat and don’t regret my purchase. It runs a tad large. If you want a nice tight to the body fit order a size smaller. It fits like the SV line. I am 6’2” 220lbs with broad shoulders . I ordered an XL I like the extra room, but if I was just planning on a t shirt and not layering I’d order a large .

He said this is true to fit and very comfortable. He is thrilled about this jacket because the insulation is extra nice in colder temperatures. Most jackets don't come as a "one piece" with insulation anymore and involve layering puffy jackets underneath. He plans to use this for skiing out east and on trips to Utah and the Canadian Rockies.

This jacket is undeniably warm. 3 days on the ski slopes in -20C and just a single layer beneath kept the core at a good temp. On warmer days or more active, the vents seemed to be enough to get rid of excess heat but I think above freezing, this jacket would be too much for any moderate activities. As other reviewers have mentioned, the light weight is also a great plus. The jacket is light and looks sophisticated enough to wear around town. But that clean, minimalist look is a drawback on some features. Hood drawstrings are on the inside of the collar, lack of a soft liner on the inside of the collar and no powder cuffs in the sleeves. The materials used on the inside and outside are also very delicate. They feel great, kinda silky, but I'm glad I haven't had a chance to test it's tear and wear resistance. Size fits great. I'm a skinny frame 5'8" and the small fits great, not baggy at all and would be an athletic fit on an average build.

This is a great ski jacket. It looks great, it feels great, it performs great. I’ve owned it 3 years. Looks: It reminds me of an 80’s ski jacket in the cut and style. It’s a classic. I think 20 years from now it will still be in style. 5 stars Feel: the materials and stitching are impeccable. The outer face is soft and quiet. The inside is beautiful and puffy. 5 stars Pockets and cuffs: these could use improvement. There is a silly pocket on the chest that only holds a chapstick. The hand and interior pockets could be bigger. The cuffs need more Velcro and better pulls. The interior of the collar could use a nice soft face fabric. It’s not bad but could be improved. 4 stars Performance: just about perfect. It’s very warm. It’s light. It blocks 100 percent of the wind. It blocks the 100 percent of water. You will be warm, dry, and happy. 5 stars Negatives: I believe this coat has only one significant negative. It’s not tough. The exterior is not gonna hold up to big tree or rock scrapes. You can slice it pretty easily. The interior material is almost delicate. Even the down they pack it with picks holes in it from the inside out. You will need patches. Overall, this is a fantastic Ski Resort jacket. It will keep you warm and dry and you will enjoy wearing it everyday. It’s perfect at the Resort and it’s perfect for dog walks. You will continually think to your self “man this is a great jacket”. I lent it to my dad for winter trip to Ottawa and he loved it as well. It could take you throughout the entire season every year for 10 years. It has a timeless design that will be in style forever. I believe the only minor trade off Arcteryx made was that to make it so comfortable they couldn’t make it super tough. However, it’s too heavy to be hacking through brush on the skin track anyway. So if you are looking for a perfect ski jacket that can also be used every day around town...this is it.

Really, there isn’t anything you can take away from this amazing coat to demote it from it’s 5 star rating. Yes, like most of us, what’s up with the arm and chest pockets. They are kind of useless other then for a car key, credit card or chap stick. But the inside pocket easily takes a large mobile phone like my iPhone 8 PLUS. The main hand pockets are pretty good too. The design and construction of this down and Core Loft insulated coat is truly a work of art. Arcteryx always seems to out do themselves in fit and finish, but this complex layout of insulation is not an easy task and you can’t find a single flaw or weakness anywhere. I am 5’7”, 168 pounds, 32” waist and broad shoulders and chest for my height, more like s 6’ person. I purchased a Medium, as my other Arcteryx coats are, and it’s just right. My son is 5’10” and is a perfect athletic and proportionally sized, I am not, and it fits him perfectly. This coat fits pretty snug, so if you plan on wearing any substantial layering, you might consider one size up. Yes it is expensive. I won’t mention the brands but I tried and looked at two other brands that varied from $595-$700. Yes they were less expensive. Even though they were premium brands the quality and construction of this higher cost cost was so superior it warrants its premium price tag.

Pros: warm, stylish, light. This is a very warm ski jacket. I took off all my layers except a wool shirt and was very warm. It is very good at evaporating moisture but if you are riding hard you will sweat. The cut is great. I liked it way more than the fissile. It's the classic ski jacket cut. Finally, it's very light and quiet. This entire jacket is lighter than my previous shell. It's also way quieter. CONS: the pockets are ridiculous. The chest pocket doesn't hold anything. I'm not sure what it's for. It's dumb. The arm ski pass pocket is awkward. The zipper doesn't always wanna work. The inside pockets are also lacking with only one big pocket and one small zip media pocket.

This is a great jacket. I just got done riding for a week in it at Revelstoke. It is very warm, light, and stylish. However, it does have a few issues.

Goretex. Down. Perfection. The warmest jacket I've ever had. More comfortable than layering a down jacket under a hardshell...the perfect combination of both. The powder skirt is fantastic and functional. The goretex works like goretex should. The pit zips keep you cool when things warm up. The hood is great, with or without a helmet. It's expensive. Really expensive. On the other hand, I'll have it forever. It's an investment piece. I love it. I wear a medium in just about all Arcteryx. 6' tall, 155#. Medium fits me perfectly.

Love this jacket, its worth every penny. Was in Jay Peak VT and snowboarded all day in under 0 degrees. Jacket does run small maybe because of the insulation but would def size up! Highly recommend this

I've been skiing with this jacket in Vermont this season and it is the warmest jacket I've ever owned. I really like the gore-tex fabric and the absence of any leakage during high winds. I tried using it without the powder skirt but at high speed down the hill I would get the occasional shot of cold but not a big deal. The hood is the best part of this jacket. Freezing cold on the lift and pull that hood up and over and you're in a gore-tex tent. Super nice. It is hard to tell that it is an Arc'tery jacket since the label is very faint, but some people might not like that.
